And we appreciate y' all tailgate up and rolling here on a Wednesday where we are going to continue with some of our reactions from SEC media days. We are going to celebrate the joys of Chip Kelly in his current post, whether that be as a project manager or an offensive coordinator. We will dive into so much of that. Enjoying it. Tom's Book club. We're going to be having book club before we get out of here.
Danny Cannell
Tom.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah. Woke as Hell edition.
Chip Patterson
Let's go. Woke as Hell edition of the of the top for Nelli Book Club where if you follow Tom on on Twitter at Tom Fornelli or if you were in the tailgate on Monday, the mere suggestion of a the mere suggestion of the Odyssey as a reading topic for this summer apparently, apparently backed him into a corner. So we're excited to see what kind of propaganda is on on tap from you today. Mr. Finnelli.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I was just going to say that I'm hearing a lot about how the myth is historically the movie about the myth is historically inaccurate. Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Great. I like the way you put it. The movie about the myth, right?
Tom Fornelli
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
100 but let's begin with some reaction to what we've been getting out of Tampa, Florida at SEC media days. Some team specific notes coming in just a little bit. But my, oh my, I did not imagine, you know, how much more the conversation would grow because as we go live on Monday, Greg Sanke has discussed and he's talked about, you know, the, the conversations of the Super League are, are real, but then it's Kirby Smart. Then it's, it's all the series of coaches and, and it's led to conversations within the industry. I just, we're, let's. Danny, do you want to start by hearing with Greg Sankey's clarification with our own Brandon Marcelo or do we want to sort of open up this box?
Danny Cannell
Let's start it with Marcelo.
Chip Patterson
Let's start let this is Greg Sankey with Brandon Marcella.
Brandon Marcelo
I think first of all, it's kind of comical because it only comes up when I'm asked about it. And so the question yesterday is, have you, have you had the conversations? Are those conversations real about some different governance format? And they're not artificial intelligence conversations. They're not deep fake conversations, fraudulent conversations? Have we ever had the conversation? The answer is yes. The question I was asked about, are the conversations real? Are based upon the frustrations like there has to be a better way. So what we actually talk about is conference led change. Like should we have different policies for ourselves that make more sense? And so the headline that's developed like there's some breakaway being considered, that's not actually what the answer was. There's frustrations that inform us asking, there has to be a better way and we're trying to work to improve the system. One of the pieces of information we need to see is there movement in Congress to actually adopt a bill that helps resolve some of the chaos that people have described.
Chip Patterson
Where do we land on this?
Danny Cannell
I mean, we basically said this on Monday, right? We're like, well, he did say they were just conversations. I mean this to me is the equivalent of, remember when they use the term socializing, like he put it out there, kind of got a little taste for the reaction. He saw people calling him out and then really tried to explode. So now he's trying to dial it
Bud Elliott
back a little bit.
Danny Cannell
It's exactly what we thought on Monday. Like, sure, people have talked about it. I'm sure people have complained and made suggestions, but does it mean they're going to do it? No. So I think it's like all, I mean, this is prime talking season, right? It's what we do. But if you go out there and give an answer where you're like, yeah, we're talking, we're having conversations. There have been conversations that had about what do you think the reaction is going to be when it's. What we're doing is reacting and talking. Of course it was going to blow out of control.
Bud Elliott
This is just beautiful, right? You leak it, it gets reported. Other reporters ask you about it so you don't have to come out and say it. And you're like, yeah, the conversations are, are real and then they're being had. But you know, we didn't come out and say like, look, you notice I didn't bring it up in, in my speech. Right. I only addressed it when you asked me if those conversations were ruined. And of course we've had conversations about. But, but I'm not saying that.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I, it's, I'm just trying to figure out like the viability of it. Like if, if they, I don't think they're going to. But if they did break away financially, could they make it work?
Chip Patterson
Yes, but it'd be bad for college football, it'd be bad for college football fans, it'd be bad for the SEC in the long run, but they could sustain on their own and I would watch, but our.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I would watch, too, but I don't know.
Chip Patterson
If it was the ufl, we'd call the SEC the ufl. That's essentially what it would be. And I would watch.
Tom Fornelli
But like you said that it would be bad for college football. It would be bad in the long run. I don't know that that's true. Ooh. Okay. I mean, if you think about it, like, college football until recently was always a very regional sport anyway. Like, the SEC was a very popular product in the Southeast, where those schools are. But long before ESPN came around, long before any of the networks came around and started blasting them nationally, long before conference realignment. So I. I think now when you look at what television inventory is and you look at all the different companies, like, fighting to get broadcast rights to these things, we can say it's bad for college football. Okay. But if people are still watching, like, I don't know if it's bad. I mean, I don't know what that would even mean. But I think that for the sec, I do wonder if it's financially viable, if it would be sustainable long term. If, like you said, Chip, maybe people would get tired of it after a while because it's the same teams. But like, the NFL is the same teams playing each other every year. Nobody seems to be getting tired of it.
Chip Patterson
They would not be able to stage some kind of our champion against another champion for some amount of time. Right? Because then you've got the. You. You've got, like, shades of legal issues that could be going there. They could exist in their own little bubble. And I just. Do you know what it's. Do you know what I've been thinking about the Monday Night wars, when WCW and WWF were running Raw and Nitro at the same time, and there were all these wrestlers that were bouncing back and forth, and they were in this huge ratings battle and. And ultimately, obviously, WCW folded, WWF takes off and runs. But I mean, teams could do that, like an SEC breakaway theory. Do you know what that involves? Lifting whoever they want to come with them without any of the punishments. If this all exists outside of the Protect College Sports act, if the SEC wants to do this, because they're not getting what they want out of Congress and they're not getting what they want out of the NCAA, they absolutely could do it. And come 2030, come 2031, there's going to be a great access to be able to pick off some other schools to be able to come with you. But those would hurt existing college football conferences. And I think overall the product would suffer from not having that connectedness and making like wrestling fans at the time, having them live in two different worlds at once. College football is already small potatoes compared to the NFL. I mean, heck, I got a little humbled when I saw 62 million Americans watching the World cup final. And you remember that the most watched college football game is Vincey over USC at 36 million. You know, we are still, we get to beat our chest a little bit as college football people because all these other sports are grasping at straws and thinking about what could have been, but still in the big picture, dividing college football and asking them to try to follow what would be two different sports at the same time. That's why I say I think it would be bad.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, like I, I agree that it was popular before you had the explosion nationally, but, but it wasn't this popular. Right. Like, I, I don't think people in Los Angeles and Chicago or as many of them were tuning in to watch SEC football. So like, I, I think it sounds better in theory than it would be in practice. I don't know that it would kill them on any kind of near timeline. I think Tom's mostly right, but I don't, I don't think it's like a. This, like, I think solution is going to work long term. Maybe they funnel themselves through independence for a little bit and then they, you know, come back and do something different, you know, once. Soon as that are TV contracts are up. But I don't think like the SEC is a standalone league. It's like a solution is going to work in perpetuity.
Tom Fornelli
Okay, I, I don't know for sure, but like, if you look at ratings for games last year, a lot of people are watching that SEC game of the week compared to everybody else. And they're not all from the states, but those schools are. There are plenty of people from around the country who were very interested in watching Georgia play Texas.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, that 7:30 ABC SEC slot has become college football for a casual. You know, it should be 330cbs if they were smart. You know, that's. Only the smart Fans are watching 330 CBS. But yeah, to your point, Tom, it is a. There's some national side of this. Danny, do you have something?
Danny Cannell
No, I was going to say how much of that is just the ABC 730 prime with herb street on the call is going to generate the eyeballs. I mean, clearly it helps when you have George.
Chip Patterson
I don't think it's Herb street much, much. Love to Danny's best friend, Kirk. But I'm just going to say that I think it's just abc. I'm saying the slide you just cut off, you just cut on the TV and it's right there. Yes, 100%. I do think, you know, listen, they put us through a lot of media training to tell us not to speak on other media, other media outlets, but I think our relationship to you is important, too. So I just want, I just want our listeners and our viewers to think about these things that all happened in the last day or so. Okay. Greg Sankey clarifies. They didn't ask me that. They didn't ask me that. While the SEC's wholesale media rights partner is running on their flagship news station, SEC Breakaway in big letters on the bottom, with their number one College Football Playoff insider on the mic being like, yes, it is very real. It's just, I don't think Streisand effect is the right word here, but there's something about, a lot of people are asking me about my breakaway shirt. You know, like, I just, I don't understand the messaging here. You know, if I've always imagined that the SEC and their media rights partner are walking arm in arm. Is the media rights partner interested in what generates conversation in July while the SEC is telling everyone to calm down? Is it that simple? I don't know. But that's why I think as a college football fan, the messaging is confusing because Sankey's saying, listen, this is just a no bad ideas club. We're just throwing everything on the whiteboard. Meanwhile, the coverage of this SEC Media days event has made the breakaway the big talking point. How do we wrestle with that? Ignore the talking points because it's July the same way that the guy who's lying about his offensive line is. We just need to look past that, right? I mean, it's just. Do we need to apply the same filters that we put on coaches during media days to, to some of these larger sport wide issues as well?
Tom Fornelli
I, I think that the truth is probably in the middle. Okay, what, like the, the overreaction to like the, like that first day of sec, their super league, like it's real, it's happening. You know, like they're really talking about it. And then Sankey saying, well, of course we've had discussions, but they're not serious. I'm guessing there have been discussions and they're more serious than Greg Sankey was portraying them in the interview with Marcelo, but they're not nearly as serious as they were being portrayed on espn. I think it's a contingency plan. I think that if you're smart, you have to have these ideas, you have to have plans for if a happens. We need to do this because you can't predict the future. So if you're leading a company, a conference, anything, you have to have plans ready if something happens so that way you're not caught with your pants down and getting screwed. Look what happens to conferences that do get caught with their pants down. They're not around anymore.
Bud Elliott
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Or they've taken the Mountain West. But yeah, we love, we love the Pac 12. I. Yeah, I'm. We've. Anything else here on just sort of like general big picture because the idea of breaking away being attractive is attractive to a university president because you don't have to talk to anybody else. We don't have to approve everything in the ncaa. We don't have to ask for Congress. If we break away and we are our own self contained for profit entity of football programs, you could pass all the rules you want. You could have a salary cap. Hell, you could call them employees if you wanted to.
Tom Fornelli
But great question from Garrett in the chat. I want Danny and Bud, you guys have all the sole voting power for Florida State. If the SEC breaks away in Florida State gets an invite, you going.
Chip Patterson
Wow, that's a lot of thought. I was expecting a yes.
Bud Elliott
I don't know. I mean I, I think like the stability of that is. Is a real question, you know, like
Tom Fornelli
compared to the stability of the acc.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, like compared to a break. I. That that's kind of how not sold I am on this being a real viable thing for the SEC breaking away. I think if you got the invite to the SEC is currently constrained, constructed, sure, yeah, you would go, but I, I'm not convinced that it would work.
Chip Patterson
Would you be worried that you'd be joining as the take the check, take the losses program?
Bud Elliott
Oh, no. But I think you'd be getting a piece of a smaller pie. Right?
Chip Patterson
Yeah.
Danny Cannell
Okay.
Bud Elliott
I don't, I don't think. Yes, these money is going to go up if it breaks away. I think it would relative to inflation and relative to other leagues stagnate or go down. So I think you'd want to know, like, hey, are we gonna have continents, Ms. here? Are like some of these other teams good? Like are we sharing the pie evenly with them? I. I don't know. Like it's a clear yes for me if, if it was as currently constructed, obviously.
Chip Patterson
Danny.
Danny Cannell
Yeah, I think they would.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I think you go, yeah, absolutely. You're being, yeah, get invited. Go see what happens. I mean just, just ask John rom and Bryson DeChambeau. What's the worst that could happen, you know?
Bud Elliott
Right.
Tom Fornelli
Could be perfect.
Chip Patterson
Anything else? Big picture, Protect College Sports Act. I, I, I did see in the legal side, I don't want to step on Bud's toes. He's held that down so much better than I have certainly. But legal experts expressing surprise at the sheer power of what they're calling like the SEC Big Ten bipartisan caucus that with hands in essentially 26 states and some big time power players in that, that they truly are the last big legal hurdle for Protect College Sports Act. That's not anything new out of SEC media days necessarily, but something that came across my desk recently. Anything else? Then we'll hit a break and then come back to more specific talking points.
Bud Elliott
I mean I think this is something we addressed a couple of weeks ago. Right. Like if you think all those representatives in the House from SC schools are going to vote for this or from certain Big Ten schools are going to vote for this. Like some of the early analysis we thought was wrong because they were equating like yeah, you know, Louisiana has three or four Sunbelt or CUSA schools in it and like pretending that those like
Chip Patterson
the governor didn't just pick the damn coach.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, right. It's like there's, there's kind of one vote that counts in, in those states and those guys aren't idiots. Right. So you know. Yeah, I, but like I'm not really sure this thing passes though guys. Obviously they have the funeral coming up next week. Like they're, they're running pretty short on, on time on this. You saw Tuberville come out yesterday and urge them or urge all of his fellow SEC constituents to not vote for this and vote for his skinny bill instead. Like I think there's, there's a lot of questions they have left. Yep.
Chip Patterson
A lot more to, to keep an eye on. All right, enough of the big picture stuff. Let's have some fun with the coaches. Let's have some fun with the players. Much more coming up. And on the other side, Kirby Smart Bud said the elder statesman. What's he talking about? Well, is he's having a little bit of fun with the media. We'll show you some of that and more next.
Tom Fornelli

the football season, the COVID 3 podcast is always on the road. Think about last year where we loved tailgating with our fans in Tallahassee before Florida State took on Miami, and the trips will continue this season as we head to Chicago for Big Ten Media Days, Las Vegas for the National Championship, and make stops at other campuses across the country along the way. With my house sitting empty on so many weekends, listing it on Airbnb is an easy way to make a little extra money while I'm already gone. It just makes sense to put the house to work while I'm out covering college football. While you're away, you could list your space on Airbnb. It's a great way to make extra money during these high demand weekends without having to upend your daily life or treat it like a demanding full time job. Honestly, listing my space feels like a smart thing to do because it's just so incredibly practical. I'm already going to be traveling anyway, so I could use a little extra money toward my upcoming vacation to help offset the cost of flights or upgrade my travel gear. It just turns an empty house into an easy opportunity. While you enjoy your own time off, your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much@airbnb.com host back here on the COVID 3 podcast. Let's little little bit of just we'll have a meeting right here. Jake Melvin, what's the Chicago Steakhouse of choice next week?
Danny Cannell
Yeah, Tom Tom, I don't got your host.
Tom Fornelli
I don't want to dox our hotel, but like is there good stuff nearby? Yeah, there has to Be. Well, yeah, of course. I mean, duh. But like Gibson's isn't too far from our hotel.
Chip Patterson
And Casey, 5, came in at 8:56am to say, Gotta go with Gibson's, home of the league.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, I would say that is a good place to go.
Chip Patterson
Rosebuds on Rush got a shout out
Tom Fornelli
from Jerry around not a steakhouse, but.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, not a steakhouse. Yeah, that was. Thank you. And what is the Viagra triangle? Is that real?
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, it's. It's an area of like, I guess it would be called Streeterville, but there's an area where it's a lot of men going around to certain establishments looking for maybe, you know, single women. And these men are maybe divorced.
Chip Patterson
They're a little of a certain age
Tom Fornelli
of a certain age that maybe they need a little pill. And there are plenty of women in the area who are maybe in that kind of market looking for somebody who, you know, established, maybe free from children, maybe has some money to spend. So, you know. Yeah, it's the Viagra triangle.
Chip Patterson
It's on a map. I'm guessing it's like a map of like bars and restaurants and it's just a. Yeah,
Tom Fornelli
it's not far from that place. Yeah. So like, you know, honestly, the plus
Bud Elliott
30 age gap category here.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's listen, a lot of talent. A lot of talent in that area and really like you chum the waters. It's. It's not hard to land some fish. You know,
Chip Patterson
if you meet the requisite requirements, you might not be able to
Tom Fornelli
keep them, but if you can convince them that, yeah, I definitely meet these requirements, you could, you know, not speaking from experience or anything.
Bud Elliott
Are. Are we gonna go see Tom's former team play on Tuesday night
Tom Fornelli
first?
Bud Elliott
First place still, Right?
Tom Fornelli
I'm sure tickets are plenty of tickets available. I am 100 sure of that.
Chip Patterson
Well, we will. We'll let you in further, obviously, as we're spending our time there in Chicago doing our job first but also enjoying some time together as well. All right, let's go right back to Tampa where we did start to hear from the two time SEC champion. Actually, he's won multiple times. Two time reigning, I guess for Kirby Smart, because yes, don't forget the Georgia Bulldogs have won this dagum league each of the last two years. And so, yeah, he is. He's a little bit comfortable with the mic. We've got him having a little bit of fun with the media.
Danny Cannell
Wanted to ask about the wide receiver room in particular.
Chip Patterson
One of the bigger question marks at
Danny Cannell
least that I have. How do you, how would you assess
Chip Patterson
the wide receiver room heading into fall camp?
Brandon Marcelo
I'm just very thankful for people like you, Steve, that keep questioning them because the more you question them, the more it helps me motivate them. So everybody says that we don't listen to you guys. Well, the wide receivers are listening, so they'll have a new challenge issued based on your question. Are you all a little bit of the exception or outlier in the way y' all stress the defense and more running game? It's such a passing game trend now in college football. Running back hadn't won the Heisman since Derrick Henry in 2015. Do you feel like in some ways you are an outlier against that trend? Those would be your words, not mine. Because I like to think that we play good defense, we play good offense.
Danny Cannell
Who's one player on both sides of the ball that people might not really know about now but will be a household name and let's say mid October.
Brandon Marcelo
Yeah, I wish I knew that too. TJ If I, if I, if I could answer that, I promise you I would be. Well, no, I can't sports wager, but I would be much better off if I knew that
Chip Patterson
Kirby Locks. Is that, did Kirby Locks just tip his hand a little bit on getting down on some of these player props? No. Kirby that if you want the motivation, you're clearly going seven and five again. He's, he's, he's comfortable. What do we, what do we think about Georgia right now? There's a great story from David COBB up on CBSSports.com looking at not just the wide receivers but the pass catching options. You know, what are they going to surround Gunner Stockton with this season? They've got one of the youngest rosters in all of FBS in terms of average age per player. So even after having a ton of younger players playing last year, they're still right up there though, to be sure. I thought this was interesting. You know who else has some of the youngest rosters in fbs? Ohio State and Texas. Like everybody who still recruits out of high school and like, isn't only relying on the transfer portal, still bringing in those big classes with some of the youngest rosters. What, what do we make of our time hearing from Gunner and Kirby and the rest of the Dogs?
Bud Elliott
I like Georgia a whole lot this year. I think they're like, all right, day trainer Danny, give me a stock that you think doesn't have tremendous upside, but it's like a really good blue chip stock. That you're pretty sure will have a nice return, right? Or just like really solid, really good company bet probably one of the mag Sevens, right? Yeah, but, but they're, but they're you know, like can they get to that like next, next level? I, I think a lot of those questions are passing game and pass rush. I'm very confident George will run the football well. I'm confident that Stockton will be a great caretaker of the offense. I, I think their offensive coordinator so far has been a pretty big downgrade from what they had and you know, Monkin was just a wizard for them and that was back, you know, pre Portal nil era when they were able to hoard all the talent. So maybe it's unfair to, to make those comparisons cross era but you know, they've had a bit of a receiver, not a problem, but it certainly hasn't been a standout position for them in a number of years. Both, you know, struggles recruiting it at the high school level and developing it and then you know, some of the transfers they've taken have been hit or miss. So I think it's like I'm very confident like they can get to the SC title and I think that's a pretty good bet actually when it comes playoff time if you got to go score 30 or 40. Right. We're seeing a lot of quarterbacks out there that are like first round, you know, type guys. And I think there's a pretty good chance the teams that make these deep playoff runs are going to have those dudes who are really, really high upside quarterbacks. I don't think Georgia has that. I think they got a really nice one, you know, so maybe they can force everybody into a dog fight, no pun intended, and you know, win it that way. It's. We've seen them do it before.
Tom Fornelli
They are like Chip, you said they're one of the youngest. They literally the youngest.
Chip Patterson
Isn't it like 18 or 19.13 or something like that? Did you pull it up?
Tom Fornelli
18.81. Like there was Rotowire did a thing last week. I've got it. It's based on. Yeah. Experience, all that kind of stuff in the power four. They're definitely the youngest. I don't know if they're the youngest in the 138th overall. So yeah, it's. It's a very young team and it's one of the. It's bud covered a lot of my feelings about it. But it's also one of those reasons why like I do feel like Georgia is Being a little slept on going into the season because, you know, they haven't won a national title in a few years. My God. But also, you know, they weren't like, we watched the NFL draft in the spring and there weren't a whole hell of a lot of bulldogs. But I feel like that's a very good thing for Georgia going into this year. But as Bud has mentioned, like, the primary questions will be what is this passing game going to be like? Can Gunner Stockton take it to another level? Because if we're seeing anything in the 12 team playoff, like when there were four teams, Georgia was winning national titles with limited passing games. It's hard to win three or four playoff games without an actual passing threat against other elite teams. And I think that's the one thing that is missing from this Georgia squad right now. So we need to see Gunner Stockton take that step forward. We need to see the receivers take a step forward if it's, if Georgia is going to actually win the national title. But yeah, as far as like betting on a stock that's probably going to be in the College Football Playoff, Georgia will probably in all likelihood be in the College Football Playoff.
Chip Patterson
You got to feel better. So Georgia and Texas are the two schools that are constantly going to be thrown to the top of the sec. Feel more confident in Georgia than Texas in making it to the College Football Playoff.
Bud Elliott
Yes. Agreed. Yeah, I have a lot more than Steve Sarkeeson.
Tom Fornelli
I, yeah, I definitely trust Kirby more and I think Texas schedule provides a few more challenges than what Georgia has to deal with overall. I just feel like I mentioned, like, I think passing game wise, I have a whole hell of a lot. Okay, so here's. I think Georgia is more likely to get to the College Football Playoff than Texas. I think if Texas gets to the College Football Playoff, they have a better shot of winning a national title than Georgia does.
Chip Patterson
God, yeah, 100%. That's.
Bud Elliott
Yeah. I think this ceiling is materially higher than Georgia's in terms of being able to accomplish.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I, I think there are talented players. I think they've had a lot of bad luck injury wise at the Georgia wide receiver position over the last couple of years. I thought that last year actually when you've got like, you know, only eight games of Colby Young, but still having Colby Young, having Zach Branch, you know, you had Dylan Bell still out there and not all traditional receivers, but, you know, I thought that they had a lot of experience that's going to be gone to where, I mean, we're talking like Scovy White, Helton Talon Taylor, Isaiah Canyon from Georgia Tech's a good portal pickup that I think should help the passing game. But hey, look, Kirby, like motivate their asses, you know, like get it. Get in there and, and see who steps up. Because it's Georgia. Almost everybody in the room is a blue chip. So who's going to step up and who's going to be able to be able to get it done? CHA Cha slot did I use. I called him the Cha Cha.
Danny Cannell
Slide offense.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, yeah.
Chip Patterson
Slide to the left. Crisscross. Okay. Also at, at SEC media days, I saw a conversation in the tailgate trying to judge Josh Hypo's confidence level. Did y' all pick up on anything from this? There seemed to be a quiet confidence from Josh Hyple and the question in the tailgate was a little bit more tied to should he have some confidence now what's, what's your thought on the Vols as we look at them heading into this season?
Danny Cannell
I'll say that I feel like we use the term flying under the radar. All like. And I'm guilty of it too. And like I've heard people say, is Georgia flying under the radar? You know, is. Or like some of these top tier teams flying under the radar? I do think Tennessee is a team that's just kind of forgot. Like, I think they are the team that's flying under the radar, but I think it's for. With good reason. Like I think they do have significant question marks but I mean bringing in a defensive coordinator with the chops that you've got in Knowles, I think the quarterback question is valid but you could have a superstar on your hands potentially with the freshman. You kind of trust Josh Hypo, what he's able to do. So I, I think they're a team that is kind of flying under the radar, but I think it's deserved. Like I don't, I don't think anybody should be picking them to win, but they were in the playoffs a couple years ago.
Tom Fornelli
It's, it's a very talented roster. I think Josh Hypo's done a very good job there. But my hesitations are we mentioned how young Georgia is. Tennessee also a very young overall roster. Decent chance you're going to have a freshman quarterback or at least an inexperienced quarterback playing and you're gonna have to rely on him. But if there's an offense where I don't mind having that much inexperience because it's really not a complicated offense, Tennessee's would be it but more than anything, like whether they're flying under the radar or not, their schedule is very much above the radar. Like they got Georgia Tech non con on the road, but Georgia Tech, I think they can win that game. I think that with all the changes at Georgia Tech, that's probably going to be a very winnable game for the Falls. But they get Texas, they got Alabama. They have to play at A and M. They've got to play lsu and that doesn't include an Auburn team that could cycle up a little bit this year and look better. South Carolina on the road could be difficult. Vandy at the end of the year, a rivalry game and now you've already been talking crap saying we're never supposed to lose to Vandy. And while they have a freshman quarterback of their own at the end of the season, he's not going to be a freshman anymore. So for me it's mostly like, yeah, I think this team, if things click, they could be in playoff contention. It's just hard for me to imagine that this team with that schedule is going to be able to get there.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I agree. I mean I like the offensive line a whole lot. I think the defense will probably be improved under Jim Knowles. I mean if Brandon's really, really good and you get a lot of breaks, I, I could see it. But you know, they, when they dodge Georgia, they don't dodge anybody else you want to dodge. Yeah, like, like, you know we, we talk about like who LSU misses and. And where they play the hard games and who Georgia misses, who does Tennessee miss that you. That you'd really want to miss Georgia and who like Texas on their LSU's on their A M's, on their Bamas on. On there it and where they play them too. Like you got to go. I mean to Vandy. They may not tell you that's tough but you know Vandy and handled it pretty well last year. Different team this year certainly like at South Carolina, you know, for a team like Tennessee. At South Carolina might be tough. Right.
Tom Fornelli
Where Tennessee is in prime position to be the 8 and 4 team that is getting the strength of schedule arguments for playoff spot at the end of the year.
Chip Patterson
Let's go.
Tom Fornelli
You know what I mean? They like, it'll be like, you know what this 8 and 4 team deserves to be in more than the 10 and 2 Big 12 champion or what. You know, like that's going to be the argument you're going to hear unless
Chip Patterson
Brent Key takes care of business, you know. Yeah, unless Brent Key, which brought two Running backs to media days Two. You'd never even see one running back.
Tom Fornelli
I wonder what we're going to be doing.
Chip Patterson
I was like, guys, stop asking me about Alberto. I seen this movie. I know what's going to happen. They're going to run the bow. One thing that I know the tailgate picked up on, too, is one of the reasons why Josh Hypo might have been flying under the radar is because Will Stein made himself a headline. I mean, yeah, we. In the spirit of Google me. Stein came out with a big, broad declaration. Listen, let's hear from that now.
Tom Fornelli
Why do you think you can win big here?
Will Stein
This is going to sound like really. I think because of me, to be honest. Think of me. I think I know what it takes. I've seen it at the highest levels. I know what it takes to recruit at this level. And you just got to believe, man. You just got to put the ball down and play. There's not really else to be said. Is it going to happen overnight? I don't know. I really don't. If I had a crystal ball, everybody in this room would be really, really rich right now. There's going to be bumps and roads. I mentioned it in the speech. Like, I'm prepared for tough moments and tough times. You got to go attack. You can't sit back and wait. That's one thing I refuse to do at Kentucky is the wait. That's why I'm excited. That's why I believe or else I wouldn't have taken the job. I would have stayed out of Oregon and coached Dante and. And stayed out there.
Chip Patterson
Hell yeah. Let's go. Are we gonna become a BBN podcast just because of Will Stein?
Tom Fornelli
I think they got it up.
Bud Elliott
If you saw it. He feels like a guy who's just left anthropic for open AI and is fundraising for his startup now.
Danny Cannell
Damn.
Chip Patterson
No, I. I like. Okay, go, go, go.
Bud Elliott
I mean, look like, like, okay, so what are you gonna fundraise on, like, product or people? Right? He's like, I'm our moat, right?
Chip Patterson
It's.
Bud Elliott
It's me. This is going to take a lot of money to launch this, this new version, right? Maybe we're doing robotics or something. Like, like, hell, like, getting Kentucky to where they want to go is probably harder than doing AI robots, so. And he's. He's got a lot of. A lot of charisma, and I think a lot of people are buying into what he's doing. He's also got, like, a hell of a task ahead of a Man, if you really dig into like Mark Stoops did a hell of a job there. But the challenge in front of Will Stein is orders of magnitude tougher I think than, than what Stoops had. So like Stoops for his best seven year run, let's strip out the COVID year because that was just so wonky. He was 27 and 29 in the SEC, right? 29 and 6 outside the SEC including bulls. Kentucky usually had you know, layoffs in the non conference so they had 42 conference games in that span against Vanderbilt, you know, most of you know pre povi obviously Mississippi State post Meyer, Florida Gators post Spurrier, South Carolina post Gary Pickle, Missouri and the Butch Jones slash Jeremy Pruitt Vols years like they routinely got the easy teams from the SC west and they also like were perfectly aligned with when a lot of the east was not really, you know, operating on at full, full capacity. And now like with this nine game schedule, man, I think like seven and five for Kentucky under Stein is like like nine and three under Stoops. It's really, really hard to see him reaching anything close to what Mark Stoops did. Their record wise even with all the stuff about Indiana like I'm not trying to rain on their parade, that probably sounds bad but like no, no, he's gonna need, he's gonna need like he's gonna need to keep fundraising in an absolute war chest because man I, I
Danny Cannell
also think, I mean Signetti's first year, the schedule at Indiana was much more manageable than this as well.
Bud Elliott
Absolutely.
Danny Cannell
I mean there's a lot that goes into like the perfect storm that was Kirk Signetti in Indiana. Not sway take away from anything that they've done. But this looks like a completely different task and different challenge.
Bud Elliott
Yeah, I'm just saying like look, if Will Stein equals what Mark Stoops did there against this new much more challenging slate that should be celebrated. I just, I'm not sure that it will be.
Danny Cannell
Yeah, I love it.
Tom Fornelli
I, I, I, that's what I want to hear my. I don't want a coach saying oh it's gonna be tough. I want my coach to be believe in himself and to think that he is capable of. If he doesn't then we're not going to anyway. But I don't, I don't think like yeah, the idea that they're going to do it in year one is ridiculous. It's not going to happen. Like Kurt Signetti and what happened there was a lightning strike that is unlikely to ever be duplicated anywhere again. But at the same time, we are very much in a different era of this sport now. Just because you haven't won in the past no longer means that you're not. It's impossible for you to win in the future. Texas Tech is suddenly a power in the sport because they've gotten buy in and they've tried. Indiana is suddenly a power in this sport because they've invested in the program. So, yeah, he's out there and he's trying to put confidence in the program to get people to invest in it. But there is proof of concept that you can win at a place like Kentucky now. And Mark Stoops has won at Kentucky. And sure, he's not going to have the same schedule benefits that Mark Stoops was getting during his time there. But if you're a good coach and you can establish something and get people to buy in, you can win at Kentucky, you can compete for college football playoff bursts. It's not going to be easy. I'm not going to say it's even likely, but the fact that he's coming in there and he's saying that, you know, I think I can do it. Hell yeah. That's what I want to hear from my coach.
Bud Elliott
Yes. And I think he's smart to say it's going to take time. Like their win total this year is four and a half.
Chip Patterson
I.
Bud Elliott
But they've been spending money. Right.
Chip Patterson
So are you. So here, this, this is, this is where I'm like, Nebraska.
Tom Fornelli
Sure.
Bud Elliott
Shit. Thought they had Menchie locked up.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, they get Stein from Oregon and you know, like Will Stein is somebody who's going to have options. So you're able to get him to leave Oregon for you. Then you go and you get Minchi in the portal. Like, we might not know the numbers overall, but those are very strong indicators that you are spending money.
Chip Patterson
When Kurt Signetti was asked about Google me much later, he mentioned he felt like at Indiana people needed to get woken up. Yeah, he had to go around and he had to start kicking some people,
Tom Fornelli
you know, in the face.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I mean, he had to start like at Indiana. He was like, we were messaging to other people, but I was also messaging to our own fans. Will Stein's dad played football at Kentucky. Will Stein's mom is a Kentucky graduate. He spent the first 18 years of his life as part of BBN. You know, he went to Louisville, didn't get an opportunity to go play at Kentucky, but now he's back at Kentucky. That man intimately understands the dynamics of what it takes within the Kentucky football program. I just, I love the I. That's. For me, mentioning Kurt Signetti is less about expecting Kentucky to do it, Indiana did, and more about him recognizing the same kind of thing that Kurt Signetti did, which is that I've got to get belief around me. You know, like, I need to make sure that we're all moving and we're all moving confidently. You follow me? He said, google me. And Will said because of me and what I loved about that is he. Even through it. I could have been coaching Dante this year. Are you kidding me? You think that that wouldn't have been awesome? Maybe the number one pick in the NFL draft and I get to be like the hot shot play caller offensive coordinator for one of the best teams in the country. But no, he. He is wanting to take on this challenge. And I think that the personal ties also make it pretty interesting. Anything else? Kentucky?
Tom Fornelli
Ooh.
Chip Patterson
College football tradition points out Indiana's win total heading into 2024 is five and a half. So I just feel.
Danny Cannell
Don't you feel like over the past 20 years. I don't. I can't remember. But a lot of coaches say some bold things. I mean, you kind of. It's your opportunity to do that, to garner some attention and say we can win national championships. It's a whole nother thing to go out there and do it. And you've got to keep, like to keep the confidence going. The Kentucky fans are all excited, you're enthusiastic. You got a brand new coach now. It's critical to keep up on that. And what does that is six went like to Bud's point about, you know, seven and five should be celebrated. If you're seven and five this year, you absolutely should be celebrating. But I just wonder if you get four or five wins this season, you know, how much does that do to some of that swagger and confidence that you have where all of a sudden it gets shaken. That's when things get real, like when it gets challenging. And that's when you're like, oh, crap, this, this is the job that I took. Maybe I could have been there coaching Dante more and win a national championship and had a job that's easier to win and produce at.
Chip Patterson
It might get hairy when they're down 10, 7 to Youngstown State in the opener.
Bud Elliott
Right.
Chip Patterson
Staring down Alabama and Texas A and M as your next two games. Oh, no, you know, Youngstown State ain't nothing to sneeze at. You know, that's a. That's an FCS game you schedule because you want them to compete.
Tom Fornelli
You know that was the original working title for a Wu Tang song.
Chip Patterson
Youngstown State. Ain't nothing to F with, ain't nothing
Tom Fornelli
to sneeze at
Chip Patterson
all right. Coming up on the other side, a celebration of Chip Kelly at his new position, Tom's Book Club. Some of your questions and more next. Is Georgia better than Ohio State, Indiana, Oregon?
Tom Fornelli
I don't think so, no. It's like when you have the skill position talent on the outside and I think that you can argue that osu, Indiana and Oregon all have better quarterback than Georgia has too.
Chip Patterson
Quarterback and skill positions, yeah.
Danny Cannell
But even like defense was not that great. I mean I did like they were really they did not rush the passer well which I that's one. I think you look at that as an anomaly though. Like I think Georgia's defense will be much better this year. Some of those younger players that are still young, they're not as freshmen they're not, you know, young young. So I would expect them to get better. But I think it's why the odds makers have those teams all better chances to win the national championship.
Chip Patterson
Do you have. You haven't started your like DK top 12 yet, right?
Danny Cannell
No. For the preseason, yeah. No.
Chip Patterson
So it'd be like those three Notre Dame and then you get to your first SEC team probably.
Danny Cannell
That's why I'm higher on Texas. I'm more willing to say Texas takes that step even though they haven't beat him yet. Even though it hasn't been great the last three chances, I'm more on, I'm more willing to say take that leap and say I trust Texas more. But I think, I love the way you guys put it because I think the safer bet just to make the playoff is probably Georgia. But once you get there, I do think Texas has better national championship odds.
Chip Patterson
Tom, Our CBS Sports 138 ballots won't be due for at least another couple weeks. Is how is that generally? I'm not gonna hold your feet to the fire on July 22, but how do you see it?
Tom Fornelli
I think George is probably at 5 or 6. Yeah. When my ballot gets put in, there's.
Chip Patterson
And it's because I'm not going to pick the next team without putting in Georgia. Like there hits a point where I'm looking at these other schools like, well, that's just disrespectful to Kirby. You know, for me to be slotting a program that's never won a playoff. Even though Kirby has not won a 12 team playoff, he's won two dagum national championships in the 14 playoff era. So some respect definitely has to be paid right there. And yes, Jerry, I'm sure Kirby absolutely appreciates this segment. Okay, before we get to a thought on those quarterback tears and Tom's book club. Just a, just, just, just joy, just unbridled joy. Just hit the, hit my desk Yesterday. It was Chip Kelly with the construction, a purple clad construction outfit. We had a hard hat. We're going to work. I mean, with all the things that Chip Kelly has been in his life, multiple time NFL head coach, you know, competed in a national championship game, won a national championship as recently as just two years ago.
Tom Fornelli
I mean, listen, you get, you get hit in the head by a couple too many Aiden Childs stray balls, you're going to start wearing a hard hat to practice. Like that's just Chips just taking care of himself.
Chip Patterson
This is because the stadium's not done yet, right? Or because we're about to read.
Tom Fornelli
Oh, it's not practice. Oh, okay. Yeah. No, like that stadium, by the way. Very nice. Looks very, very nice. Good job, Northwestern.
Chip Patterson
Kyle did say Kyle said he's dressed as Bud with the safety vest on. It's even got some JMU color to it.
Danny Cannell
Are you sure it's not a motivational tactic like we're going to work this year then? Like we're going. Like they have lunch pails at Virginia Tech. Like this could be a we're going to work.
Chip Patterson
I. I think they are take. It's taking motivation from the. The. The effort that has been put into it. 100. It was. I do wonder. I do wonder if Chip Kelly, Northwestern offensive coordinator was one of those phrases that kind of got buried during the transition from last season to this season. And it did seem again, in my own biased sort of view of the world, it did seem like a lot of people were reminded for the first time in a long time that Chip Kelly is going to be out there running this offense. But yeah, you mentioned it. It looks great.
Tom Fornelli
Looks like a Premier League stadium.
Chip Patterson
Is it going to be about that 50, 60,000 type?
Tom Fornelli
I think it's only about 40,000.
Chip Patterson
Yeah. That's about Premier League attendant. Premier League capacity, right?
Tom Fornelli
Yep.
Chip Patterson
Cool stuff. Very fun stuff. All right, Tom, you mentioned this. This morning the Athletic released some quarterback tears after conversations with many people within the industry. And. And you've got some. You've got some nits to pick here. So, Tom. Lee. Lee, hold my hand. Tell me, would you what'd you take umbrage with. With this from. Again, courtesy of the Athletic.
Tom Fornelli
There was just. There's one and I don't want to give it away what it is because I want to do a blind resume for you guys. All right. There is. There are two quarterbacks. We're going to be sure both transferred to a Power 4 school from the same G6 league. These are their numbers from last season. All right. QBA had 39 total touchdowns, 9.5 yards per attempt, a touchdown rate of 7.3%, an interception rate of 1.9% and he was pressured 6.79 times for every time he took a sack. Cubeback B had 42 total touchdowns, 9.3 yards per attempt, 8.2% touchdown rate, 2.1% interception rate, and was pressured 7.53 times for every sack taken. Do those quarterback. I'm not asking you which one's better. Those seem like very similar talents.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, go ahead, Danny. You take the first word on that.
Danny Cannell
No, I think absolutely. How can. There doesn't look like there's that much disparity at all.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, I would. It would just come down to feel vibes fit you Know like what I wanted to accomplish, I would consider them graded approximately the same.
Tom Fornelli
Now quarterback B I want to point out played two games against power four opponents. Also a game against one of the better G6 teams in the non conference last year. Quarterback A did not. Quarterback A played a much easier schedule overall.
Chip Patterson
Did Quarterback B win his bowl game?
Tom Fornelli
I can't remember honestly. But it wasn't a bowl game. This was like in the early part of the season.
Bud Elliott
Okay.
Tom Fornelli
One of these quarterbacks is a tier one quarterback according to the athletics rankings and the other is a tier three.
Bud Elliott
Whoa.
Tom Fornelli
Quarterback A is Drew Mastermaker. Quarterback B is Byron Brown.
Danny Cannell
Oh, now I knew one of them was Byron Brown. I had a hunch you were going there.
Chip Patterson
I thought he was going Kate and Hauser. I didn't remember where Hauser was on the show.
Tom Fornelli
Shout out to Ryan for getting it in the chat. Okay, but like my knit is again, I would probably have Messedamaker ranked ahead of Byron Brown in my rankings too. But I don't understand the hype surrounding Messamaker in that he's a tier one quarterback in college football because he tore it up at North Texas against the American. And then there's also the fact that Byron Brown that was just last year's stats far more experience overall through Master Maker's got one season and it wasn't that much better than Byron Brown's last year. So it's weird to me that the kind of hype that Mess Maker is getting and this again, this is a tier list that wasn't based on the athletics writers. They weren't ranking them. This like this was talking to coaches and GMs and all this stuff from around college football. So I'm trying to figure out like I think Master Maker is good. I think he's also severely overhyped based on what we've seen to this point. And I think that he's getting caught in the story more than the performance because of his background and where he came from. So it's just, it's. I fear for the kid is being set up to fail now. I think that Oklahoma State at the Big 12 is going to have a much easier path than what Byron Brown is going to have to deal with at Auburn in the sec. But I just, it's one of those things where I feel like everybody's kind of willing Oklahoma State to be great again. Like they're oh, this team's going to have a huge comeback. I think it's probably going to be kind of rough, don't you Think it's
Danny Cannell
just the enamored with the passing of Messamaker. I mean he led the country in passing I think and I've been somebody who's big on and bullish on Byron Brown. Like I think I'm expecting more from him than most and I think it's probably that he is going to the Big 12. I think it's probably you're projecting some in that tier. If you're saying mess makers tier one and Byron Brown is three, you're clearly projecting that he's playing against a weaker competition that his he'll make a huge jump forward for Oklahoma State going what was it, two wins to six wins. It's huge. But Byron Brown, like are they going to be a 6 or 7 win team? Like you're probably not going to notice that much but I agree with you.
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, it's me like to drive this further, Master Maker is ranked sixth overall. He's ahead of Arch Manning.
Chip Patterson
That's what I'm ahead of.
Tom Fornelli
Sam Levitt, he's ahead in Jaden Mayava, Noah Favita, Gunner Stockton, Josh Heaver, Marcel Reed, jks, Kevin Jennings, John Matier. It's like okay, sure.
Chip Patterson
How that's it. It's got to be the NFL brain where they just see how tall he is and they just see the way that it looks. Yeah, he's like 4, 6, 5.
Danny Cannell
Litted up the Manning passing academy when he was on the field with some of those guys listed at 6:3.
Tom Fornelli
So that means he's
Chip Patterson
got a lot. He's got one of them Mike Glennon necks though. I. It just sort of like looks a little.
Danny Cannell
No one, no one has a Mike Glennon.
Chip Patterson
Only Mike Glennon has a Mike. Yeah, it's got to be just that scabby the arm talent that they're investing in because I think it is.
Danny Cannell
I mean I think it is a stat. A little bit of a stat hoarder too with leading the country in passing yards. People look at that and he's bringing his. I mean they're both bringing their coaches but they're projecting that offense will put up numbers in the Big 12.
Tom Fornelli
By the way, Drew Mestemaker and Byron Brown did play last year in North Texas and USF won that game 63 to 36. Turned the ball over three times.
Danny Cannell
Yeah, that was the worst game.
Tom Fornelli
When you look at the teams that he played last year, you could argue usf, Navy, Tulane and San Diego State were the best teams that he faced all season long. In those five games he threw all nine of his Interceptions that includes five in the last two games like against Tulane in the conference title game, he had three interceptions and two touchdowns. Against San Diego State, the game they won 49, 47 in the bowl, he had two interceptions. Navy was the only one of those teams he didn't throw an interception against. But he also didn't throw a touchdown. Like it's one of those things where he's stepping up in class and I, I assume he is going to be a good quarterback in that system. With the familiarity he's not going to be terrible. But we have not seen proof of concept of him being able to play well against stiffer competition. At least Byron Brown, like in the game against Miami he made plays. In the game against Florida he made plays. In a game against Boise State he made plays. I just, it's, it's wild to me the gap between those two and it's just overall the belief in Messamaker.
Bud Elliott
Yep.
Chip Patterson
Thousand yard rusher for Brown too. And also on YouTube.com cover3 they we just called up the box score from that USF North Texas game about midway through the season. They were both five and one at the time. Was it a Friday night game?
Tom Fornelli
Yeah, it was like a spotlight game. Yeah, everybody was watching it and they crapped the bed.
Chip Patterson
Well, it's, as you can see, it was 21, 21 at halftime and then they just pooped their pants coming out of the locker room in the third quarter and the game was done. Wild, wild game. To be able to look back on a little bit of action from, from the 20, 25 season. All right, Tom, few minutes left. Let's, let's see what we have for the book club today.
Tom Fornelli
Today's book club. You know, World Cup's over. I enjoyed it. British Open, all the majors are over. That means it's time to really dive in and really start prepping for the year. Which is why I'm happy to receive my copy this year of Big six previews. You know, like listen, Phil Steele magazine, still one of the best out there. I think more than anything though, like the Phil Steel dominance of the scene is more nostalgia based for a lot of people. I think because it's like the information in there, I think. Love Phil. I think he overloads the magazine a little too much with some info that isn't really, I don't know, useful, I guess is the best way to put it. It's, it's jam packed, but it's not so much useful. I think that this preview for my money, is more useful that said, it does not cover the G6 leagues. It's all power four. So you still need Phil Steele to get your, your tidbits about the smaller leagues and the smaller schools. So I, I still say, but buy both of them. But I, I really enjoy this preview magazine. I, I, it's, I get more out of it than I do Phil Steel at this point. So if you're looking for one, because it is that time of the year, that's the one I would go with.
Danny Cannell
Shout out to Danny Canel spelled differently than me. He has two ends in his last name, but we share the same email. He forwards me stuff all the time. And like, he's been doing it for 15 years, like since back and I was at ESPN and it'd be like, hey, I think this is for you. So we kind of like I end up emailing him back. He's a Penn State grad, not a huge football fan, but he sent me, he forwarded me the Pick six preview, which actually was forwarded to some people at Sirius xm. He said, I think this is for you. And I said, thank you again because it is one of the best ones. And he said just this morning someone saw my name and said I don't look like a quarterback. That was from Danny Cannell with two ends and not one end. So appreciate him for making sure I got a pick six preview.
Chip Patterson
Yeah, Brett does a fantastic job. Awesome shout out there. Yeah. And there, there is a little bit, I think too, for the Phil, where it's like, this is what, 32 vault, like volume 30. You know, they're all, I've got old ones right behind me. There is a little bit of that establishment thing that's really cool. But yeah, much shout out to Brett. The, the Pick 6 preview is excellent as well. One last, one last bit of business here. Troy boy's not here to defend him. But are we about to take on a sworn enemy in John Sumrall? I'm a little bit concerned. This is for Those watching on YouTube.com cover three, a bit of a bit of commentary from John Summerall coming to us courtesy of the great Brandon Marcelo quote. It's football season, not podcast season. And I see a little Mark Schlaball there too. Looks like he looks like Summerall's got a little cocky smile as he's realized he's just delivered an absolute banger of saying that it's not podcast season. I, I, should I let this one, should I let this one fly by or are we going to take issue with this.
Tom Fornelli
I mean, I listen.
Danny Cannell
I mean, technically, right now is podcast season. We ain't there yet.
Tom Fornelli
I think, you know, John loves the show. He listens to the show. One of our biggest fans. But I think John is protecting some people out there because, you know, like Josh Payton, Brandon Walker. I don't think it put out a podcast in months. So he's trying to give them a little cover, saying, hey, it's. It's not podcast season. Okay? Those guys will be back in August or September when the games come. They're just. They're taking their vacations now.
Bud Elliott
Just.
Tom Fornelli
Just let the boys be.
Danny Cannell
Yeah, some people really don't have an off season. Yeah, some of us don't just claim. We don't just claim it. We actually don't have one.
Tom Fornelli
You might. So we might talk more about golf and other things at times during season, but there's no off season.
Danny Cannell
Yeah.
Chip Patterson
Sounds like the tailgate's enraged. I'm sure it will set up plenty of spicy interactions. Maybe the OG Troy boy, John Sumrall will be in the tailgate to come defend his gators. All right, we will be back tomorrow where, yeah, we'll continue to clean things up in terms to take away from sec. But the main driving issue of the day, it's you. It is you in the COVID 3 tailgate. So whether you've left us to a question in the big old bag of mail with the five star review and put that question in the review, whether you've gotten at us with Spotify comments, commented on the YouTube videos, Guys, we are casting all kinds of directions for the mailbag questions. So the big old bag of mail gets opened on Thursday with a little bit of Big Ten Media days preview as well. We'll see. We'll talk to our folks at the Big Ten to see if we're allowed to reveal our schedule. But we got it yesterday. And all I'll say is I'm excited. I'm very, very excited. So we'll give you a little tease of what to expect for next week. But again, big old bag of mail tomorrow, come hang out cover three tailgate. We go live. 11am Tailgate open even earlier. And you can follow him on Twitter at Tom. For now, you can follow him at Danny Canal. Follow me at Chip underscore Patterson. Gentlemen, thank you very much.
Brandon Marcelo
Thank you.
Danny Cannell
See ya.
Tom Fornelli
One thing you learn doing a podcast is that, yeah, the show is the show, but it's also a small business.
