and Katherine Beaumont in Peter Pan with John Carradine.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. Irving Cumming. Greetings from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight I want you to go with me to Never Neverland, because we're going to tell you one of the most enchanting stories of all time.
John Darling
Peter Pan.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Peter Pan was created by the great
John Darling
playwright James M. Barry.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
It was our own Walt Disney who brought Peter and his charming little friends to the screens for everyone to enjoy. And as our stars from the original cast, we have those two talented youngsters, Bobby Biscoe and Catherine Beaumont. We also represent John Carradine, a fine actor whom I had the pleasure of directing in one of his first pictures.
John Darling
Now, Peter Pan, starring Bobby Driscoll as
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Peter and Katherine Beaumont as Wendy, with John Carradine as Captain H. All this has happened before.
John Darling
It will happen again.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
But this time it happened in London,
John Darling
on a quiet sleep in Bloomsbury.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Peter Pan chose this particular home because there are children here who believe in him. There's Wendy, the eldest, and John in the middle, and Michael, the littlest. For the boys, Peter Pan is the hero of all their nursery games. While Wendy not only believes in Peter, but is the supreme authority on all his marvelous adventures. Now, anyone who believes in Peter Pan also believes in his arch enemy, the notorious cowardly pirate, Captain Hook. Captain Hook, you know, is very aptly named. A crocodile once devoured his hand, and in its place he wears an iron hook where his right hand used to be.
Wendy Darling
Pardon me, not his right hand. Sir, his left hand.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Oh, to be sure your left hand has bite you, Wesley.
Wendy Darling
Not at all.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Anyway, the boys, John and Michael, like nothing better than to play at being Peter Pan. And Captain Hook. For example. Just listen to them.
Wendy Darling
Blast you, Peter Pan. And that you'll never leave my ship alive. I'm coming to the roof. Fossil Foy.
John Darling
I'll be that. You too, Nana.
Wendy Darling
Hello, Father. Not you, Father. You see, it's my turn to be Captain Hook.
John Darling
Yes, yes, of course. Montair. Have you seen my cufflinks? Nana, for goodness sake. Well, I didn't mean step on your tail. I'm sorry, Nanna. Now, where are my cufflinks?
Wendy Darling
Cufflinks?
John Darling
Yes, the Goldwex. Mother and I are going out tonight
Wendy Darling
and they find the buried treasure. We used Father's cuffmates for the buried treasure.
Peter Pan
You what?
Wendy Darling
Don't worry, Fathers. But first we have to consult maps. Now then, by looking at this map.
John Darling
Good heavens. My foolish check truck. My love King Sipron. How can I wear it tonight? You've drawn your silly map all over my shirt front.
Wendy Darling
Mary, look.
John Darling
My best shirt.
Wendy Darling
But it's all plucked, Father. It comes right off. Michael, now, really. It's not his fault, Mother. It's in the story. And Wendy said.
John Darling
Wendy? Story? I might have known. Wendy, come here.
Wendy Darling
Yes, Father.
John Darling
Stuffing these boys with a lot of ridiculous stories. Captain Crook, indeed. Peter Pirate.
Wendy Darling
Peter Pan.
John Darling
Poppycock. Absolute poppycock.
Wendy Darling
Come now, George.
John Darling
Mary. Our jopper's growing up in high time. She had a room of her own. You heard me. A room of your own. Young lady, this is your last night in the nursery. Yes, and you too, Nana. Out you go.
Peter Pan
Out.
John Darling
Out, I say.
Wendy Darling
No, dear. You really think it's a good.
John Darling
There will be no more dogs for nurse maids in this house. Come along, Nana. We have a very comfortable dog house in the garden. And there you will stay.
Wendy Darling
Goodbye, Nana. Poor Nana. Poor Nana?
John Darling
Poor Nat, indeed. What about poor Polly? Yes, it's all Nana. Don't look at me like that. It's nothing personal. It's just that. Well, you're not really a nurse at all, you know, you're. Well, you're a dog. And my children are not puppies. They're people. And sooner or later, people have to go humming. There. Now, keep well. See you in the morning.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
A few moments later, Mr. And Mrs. Darling were on their way to their party.
Wendy Darling
George, do you think the children will be safe up there? Without manner?
John Darling
Safe? Of course they'll be safe.
Wendy Darling
But Wendy said something about a shadow.
John Darling
No. What shadow?
Wendy Darling
Peter Pans. Wendy says she Found his shadow.
John Darling
Oh, Peter Pan. Peter Pan. You don't say. Good gracious. Whatever shall we do?
Wendy Darling
That's it.
John Darling
Turn me off. Call Scotland Yard. Oh, Mary, of all the impossible skittle panels. Peter Pan in.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Now, that Mr. Darling sent a look. He would have seen two visitors there in the moonlight, high on the roof. One of them looks very much like a boy. It is only natural, since he is a boy. None other than Peter Pan. But he'd have had to look more closely to see his companion. A very tiny companion. No larger than, well, the graffita. But she's a pixie. A very pretty, saucy little pixie. Her name is Tinker Bell. Now, Tinker Belle never talks. Never says a word. She has a special language all her own. And it sounds something like this.
Peter Pan
I told you, Tink. He had to fly down here to find my shadow. And just as soon as we find it, we'll fly back to Never Never Land. There's the window. You ready?
John Darling
Here we go.
Peter Pan
All right, Tink. Now search the room. You look there, and I'll look over here. Just help me find my shaft.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
It was Tinkerbell who found him lying in the top drawer of the dresser, just where Wendy had left him.
Peter Pan
Well, all I have to do now is throw my shadow back on. Then we can go to Peter.
Wendy Darling
Peter Pan. Oh, I knew you'd come there.
Peter Pan
I know, girl. You're supposed to be asleep.
Wendy Darling
But you woke me up and you found your shadow. Oh, I do hope it didn't, Rumple. You know, Peter, you look exactly the way I thought you were. Oh, a little taller, perhaps. Oh, Peter, what in the world are you trying to do?
Peter Pan
I'm putting my shadow on. Of course, with soap.
Wendy Darling
You can't stick a shadow on with soap. It needs to be sewn on with needle and thread.
Peter Pan
You sure?
Wendy Darling
Well, no, but I think so. Now, I'll find my sewing beauty, stitch it on in no time. Of course, I knew it was your shadow the minute I saw it in my head. To myself, I said, I'll put it away to Peter Daniel till he comes back. Oh, he's sure to come back, I said. And you did, didn't you, Peter? Ah, but what I don't understand is. Peter, how can I sew your shadow on if you keep flying around the room?
Peter Pan
Girls talk too much.
Wendy Darling
Oh, I'm sorry. My name is Wendy, Wendy Warda.
Peter Pan
And Wendy's enough.
Wendy Darling
Oh. Now, how did Nana get your shadow in the first place?
Peter Pan
She jumped at me the other night over there at the windowsill.
Wendy Darling
But what were you doing on the windowsill?
Peter Pan
I came to listen to your stories, of course.
Wendy Darling
My stories? They're all about you.
Peter Pan
That's why I like them. I taught the Lost Boys.
Wendy Darling
The Lost Boys? Oh, I remember. They're your helpers. I'm so glad you came back. I might never have seen you.
Peter Pan
Why not?
Wendy Darling
Because I have to grow up starting tomorrow. Grow up? But that means no more stories. Not even one?
Peter Pan
No, I won't have it.
Wendy Darling
Come on. Come on. But where?
Peter Pan
Back where I come from. Never Neverland.
Wendy Darling
Never Neverland.
Peter Pan
You'll never grow up there.
Wendy Darling
Oh, Peter, it would be so wonderful. Oh, but what would Mother say?
Peter Pan
Mother? What's Mother?
Wendy Darling
Why, you don't know what Mother is. Mother. Someone who. Who loves you and cares for you and tells you stories.
Peter Pan
Now, come on to the window, and when I tell you.
Wendy Darling
No, no, just a minute. I. I have to pack some clothes. And even more. Oh, I'm so happy. I think I'll give you a kiss.
Peter Pan
Be quiet, Tinkerbell. What's a kiss?
Wendy Darling
Well, a kiss is. Just stand still and I'll hear you. Oh. Oh. What is it? Cutting my hair. Oh. What's in my hair?
John Darling
Hank. Hank.
Peter Pan
Now stop it.
Wendy Darling
Oh. What in the world?
Peter Pan
Tinker Bell. I don't know what got into her.
Wendy Darling
All I was going to do was give you a. Oh. Oh, I see.
Peter Pan
She certainly got mad about something.
Wendy Darling
Dear. And me. Michael, wake up. Look, dear. We've wakened my brothers. Honkey. Ok. I'm Michael and my name's John. How do you do? A firefly. Oh, no, Michael, not a firefly. A Dixie.
Peter Pan
She says you're a big ugly girl.
Wendy Darling
Amazing. Simply amazing.
Peter Pan
Oh, come on, Wendy, let's go.
Wendy Darling
Where are we going? I could Never Never Land. Never Never Land. Blue Peter's taking us far. But of course, I couldn't go without Michael and John. Captain Hook is in Never Let the Land, is he not? I should like very much to cross swords with the real buccaneer. Yes. All psycho.
Peter Pan
Well, all right, but you'll have to take orders.
Wendy Darling
But how do we get to Neverland?
Peter Pan
How? Why, we fly, of course.
Wendy Darling
But we can't fly.
Peter Pan
Of course you can. It's easy. All you do is. Gee, that's funny.
Wendy Darling
What's the matter? Don't you know it?
Peter Pan
Oh, sure. It's just that I never thought about it before. Let's see.
John Darling
That's it.
Peter Pan
You think of a wonderful thought.
Wendy Darling
Any happy little thought? Uh huh. Like toys at Christmas. May bell Snow.
John Darling
Yep.
Peter Pan
Watch me now. Here I go.
Wendy Darling
It's easier Than, pal. He can fly. He can fly. Float.
Peter Pan
Now you try.
Wendy Darling
I'll think of a mermaid lagoon. Ah. Underneath a magic moon. I'll think I'm in a pirate's cave. I think I'll be a little. Now everybody try.
Peter Pan
One, two, three.
Wendy Darling
We can fly. We can fly. We can fly.
Peter Pan
This won't do. What's the matter with you? All it takes is faith and trust. Oh, and something I forgot.
John Darling
Dust.
Wendy Darling
Dust?
Peter Pan
Yep. Just a little bit of pixie dust. All right, Pink, gather some pixie dust. You should say not. Well, I say you shall. It's in order.
Wendy Darling
Woo. Dust. Oh, I love wings.
Peter Pan
Now, think of the happiest things.
Wendy Darling
It's the same as having wings. Let's all try it just once more.
John Darling
Look.
Wendy Darling
We're rising off the fall. Here it is. Oh, my. We can fly. We can fly. We can fly.
Peter Pan
Come on, everybody. Here we go.
Wendy Darling
Never Never Land.
John Darling
Take the path that movies make you see him when you die.
Wendy Darling
You can fly.
John Darling
You can fly.
Wendy Darling
You can fly.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
And so they flew out of the house into the starry night. And they flew over Bloomsbury street and over the spires and towers of London Town. And higher and higher and higher. All in all, the most exhilarating experience. Except for Tinkerbell, that is, who's just a little jealous and doesn't like the idea at all. Anyway, when the city disappeared underneath the clouds and the stars grew bigger and bigger.
Wendy Darling
Where is it? Sinterk. Which direction now? To Never Never Land.
Peter Pan
There it is, Wendy. The second star to the right in straight onto morning.
Wendy Darling
You can find, you can find, you
John Darling
can find, you can find, you can find.
Narrator/Host
You know, the world is in pretty
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
good shape when people try to outdo
Narrator/Host
each other in doing things for others.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
If that sounds a little confused, let me tell you what I mean.
Narrator/Host
In Tokyo, two of the commanding general's honor guard platoons each adopted an orphanage.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
They sent work parties to repair roofs,
Narrator/Host
walls, ceilings, windows and floors to fix
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
the plumbing and renew kitchen and heating facilities. Intense rivalry developed between the units as
Narrator/Host
to which could do the most. Each platoon solicited money at its pay tables.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
They bought bolts of cloth and had
Narrator/Host
warm clothes made for their proteges.
John Darling
It's the kind of game, the kind
Narrator/Host
of a rivalry that we like to hear about.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Because it's one in which everybody wins. And such acts by you and your
Narrator/Host
friends today are shaping our world of tomorrow. Now our producer, Mr. Cummings, act two of Peter Pan.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Starring Bobby Driscoll as Peter and Catherine Beaumont as Wendy. With John Carradine as Captain Hook and Bill Thompson as Smee.

Now, while Peter Pan and Wendy and John and Nice. Oh, yes, and Tiny Superbell. While they're flying to the island of Never Never Land, what does Captain Hook have? Captain Hook and his villainous pirate crew. Well, they're exactly where Peter left them.
John Darling
And board their ship riding at anchor
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
in Never Neverland Harbor.
John Darling
Oh, a pirate life. The wonderful lights for roaming over the sea give me career as a bunker oh, the life of a pirate for me oh, the life of a pir.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Alone on his fortress, Captain Hook bitterly contemplates the map of Never Never.
John Darling
Crash. That Peter Pan. If I could only find his height up, I'd trap him in his lair. But where is it to the west? Oh, we search that to the east. We've combed every inch of it. What of the north, sir? No, no, no. Any fool knows the north is all Indian territory. But wait, wait. Those redskins know this island better than I do me own ship. Ah. I wonder. Good morning, Captain. I got it, Mr. C. I've got it, Captain. Look, sir. That's my nose. He's whisky. Oh, so it is. I found the solution. Tiger Lily.
Wendy Darling
Tiger Lily, Captain?
John Darling
The Indian princess. The chief's daughter. She'll know where Peter Pan is hiding.
Wendy Darling
But will she talk, your Honor?
John Darling
Oh, a little persuasion might be in order. Now, let me see. Boiling in oil. Delightful Keel Hall. Lovely, lovely. Or maroony. Oh, you're a sly one, Capernaum.
Wendy Darling
Sly bly.
John Darling
Thank you, Mr. Snee.
Wendy Darling
But move.
John Darling
Begging your pardon, it ain't what I'd call exactly. Good form, Sir. Good form, Mr. Sneed? Blast good form. Did Pan show good form when he did this to me, cutting off me left hand? Well, now, Cap'. N. He done it in a fair
Wendy Darling
duel, you might say.
John Darling
Why don't you take my hand and toss it overboard? You to that crocodile boy? Pretty boy, sir, he's been a childish prey. That cursed crocodile fancies the taste of me so well. He's followed me ship ever since, licking his chop for the rest of me. And he had had you bung out, Captain.
Wendy Darling
If he hadn't swallowed that alarm clock. But now when he's about, he warns
John Darling
you, you might say, with him spit. Talk. Stick to it, Mr. C. Enough of that infernal sound. But that ain't me, sir. I am talking to. Oh, no, no. Down there. Look there in the water. Ask me if he ain't found you again.
Wendy Darling
He's looking right at you, Captain.
John Darling
Terrified with anticipation, as the poet says. Save me, Mr. Smee. Oh, don't let him get me. Don't let him get me. Here, now, come on. You upset the poor captain. There'll be no handouts today. Now, sue, go on. He's backing off, sir.
Wendy Darling
Nothing to fret about.
John Darling
I can't stand it any longer. I can't, I tell you. I can't. Well, now, that being the case, sir, why don't we leave Never Neverland? We ought to be tenant of business, Captain. By taking ships and shooting gullets? I've told you a hundred times. We don't lift anchor till that wretched Peter Pan hangs from yarda.
Wendy Darling
Jacky, look.
John Darling
It's him. It's Peter Pan.
Wendy Darling
Peter Pan. A three points so far. Robert. Bouncer.
John Darling
He's doing it again, sir. Flying, that is squander me I. It is Pat. Headed this way with some more of those curvy blacks. Three of them, sir. Two boys in the turf. Localize the swamps. And the cannon. Oh, why, we'll get him this time, Mr. Smee. That we will, your honor. Oh, I've waited years, buddy. Not counting bank holidays either. We'll pot them up there like sticking ducks. Oh, what for? All right, my hearties. Range 42.
Wendy Darling
Range 42.
John Darling
Elevation 65.
Wendy Darling
Elevation 65.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Yes. High in the sky, flying over Never Never Land. Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the three children were coming to the end of their journey from London.
Peter Pan
Well, there it is. There's Never Neverland.
Wendy Darling
Oh, Peter. Great jacket. I've always dreamed it would be. I don't look, John. Mermaid Lagoon, my Jo. And over there, the Indian encampment. The icy swift Captain Hook and the pirates. Wait. I think something just moves by.
Peter Pan
Cannonball, watch out. Here comes another. Now, where's Tank? Quick, Tank. Take Wendy and the boys back to camp off the up here and draw Hook's fire.
Wendy Darling
Goodbye, Peter. We'll see you, native. You will be careful? Come on, Hook.
Peter Pan
Here I am. Go ahead and hit me, you, you codfish.
Wendy Darling
Codfish. Catfish.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
With Wendy, Michael and John following her, Tinkerbell the pixie drove off as fast as she could. Jealous of Wendy. This is her opportunity for revenge. She fly on ahead, summon the lost boy. Tell them a terrible enemy is approaching and, well, and leave the rest to them. But I'm happy to say that before anything Unfortunately, Peter Pan stooped Down from the sky to Wendy's rescue
Wendy Darling
oh, my goodness. Oh, goodness. Why, just in the nick of time, boys. You're gonna hurt Wendy. Pan was enough, boys. What to help me?
Peter Pan
I don't know, Wendy, but I'll soon find out.
Wendy Darling
A strange lot, aren't they? They look like boys and they act like boys. But they all have tails.
Peter Pan
Well, of course they have tails. Now, their for instance, is Fox. Boys. She has the bushiest tail of a lot. Then there's Rabbit Boy, Dunk Boy, the Bear Twins. Well, anyway, there they are. And what a bunch of blockheads you've turned out to be. I bring your mother to tell your story. And this is what I find you doing to her.
Wendy Darling
Well, gosh. Kitty said she was a bird. A Wendy bird. A terrible fierce Wendy bird.
Peter Pan
Take said that?
Wendy Darling
And she told us that. She said for us to bunch her up.
Peter Pan
Oh, I see. All right, Kate, come here. You're charged with high treason. Guilty or not guilty? Guilty. Huh? Very well. I hereby banish you from Neverland forever.
Wendy Darling
Oh, no, Peter. Not forever.
Peter Pan
Well, for a week then. Come on, Wendy. I'll show you the island.
Wendy Darling
Oh, I see the mermaid pet. Mermaids? The Greek. Who wants to see mermaids?
Peter Pan
Let's go hunting.
Wendy Darling
Personally, I would prefer to investigate the Abalikina. You are an Indian too.
Peter Pan
All right, boys. While I show Wendy the Mermaid Lagoon. You take John and Michael and go and capture a few Indians. John, you can be a leader.
Wendy Darling
I shall try to be worthy of my poster. Ready? Wilman, Ford. Mark. We're following the leader the leaders, the leaders we're following the leader Wherever he may go.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Well, while John, Michael and the Lost Boys were out searching for Indians. Peter Pan took Wendy to Mermaid Lagoon. And it was there where the lagoon flowed out to the river. And the river flowed out to the sea. The picture suddenly saw a sprinkled ice.
Wendy Darling
Peter, what is he up there?
Peter Pan
Up there on the river? A rubo, Mr. Smee at the orange.
Wendy Darling
And Captain Hook.
Peter Pan
Wendy, look. They've got Tiger Lily. Captain Hook has captured the Indian princess.
Wendy Darling
Poor Tiger Lily.
John Darling
They're hands for Skull Rock.
Peter Pan
Come on, Wendy.
Wendy Darling
I've got a favor.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Yes, Hook has captured the Indian possessed. But to the boy. What of Michael and John and the Lost Boys. Who also were trying to capture some Indians? Well, they found the Indians all right. Only something was wrong. Much to that. It made the Indians captured. Pity.
Wendy Darling
Come on. This means one. What do I get up to? A tall and tall. Be brave, Michael. Here comes the sleep hug, boys.
John Darling
For many moons red men fight pale Faced lost boys. Sometimes you win, sometimes we win.
Wendy Darling
Okay, chief, you win this time.
John Darling
Now turn it blue.
Wendy Darling
Turn it loose. You mean. Oh, this is only a change. Sure. Follow me.
John Darling
When we all turn arrows this time no turnem loose.
Wendy Darling
Give me a great spooper. Kiki.
John Darling
Me no spoofum. Where are you? Hide. Princess Tiger Lily.
Wendy Darling
Hi there, Lily. You mean she isn't here?
John Darling
Yup. I'm kidding around.
Wendy Darling
Well, you don't have her. You haven't even seen him.
John Darling
He big lie hip. Tiger Lily not back by sunset, we burn them. Boys at stake. Sheep plenty mad. See you again at sunset.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Yes, the chief is convinced that the boys have stolen Pagaloo. But we know better, don't we? Once again, cunning, merciless Captain Hook has struck. Kidnapped the poor little princess and carried her off the skull rock. In this huge cave whose floor of the ocean Hook is tied Tiger Lily to a rock that jumped up from the water.
John Darling
And now, my dear princess. Just tell me the hiding place of Peter Pan. And I shall set you free. Am I not the man of me word, Mr. Smeed? But are we, Captain? Pardon me for cropping your fingers. You better talk, my dear, for soon the tide will be coming in. The water will rise to the very
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
roof of this cave.
John Darling
And then the last will be too late. This is your last chance, Tiger Lily. Beware, Captain, look.
Peter Pan
Beware of what you do.
John Darling
Did you hear that from the. Stand by the ro m? I'll reach among the rocks. Evil spirit indeed.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
The voice, of course, was none other than Peter Pan's. And as soon as Captain Hook had clambered out of sight, Peter went into action.
Peter Pan
Now watch this. Wendy, do be careful.
Wendy Darling
Peter, where are you going?
John Darling
Nowhere.
Peter Pan
All I'm going to do is imitate Captain Hook's voice. I do it rather Well, I think.
John Darling
Mrs. Me.
Wendy Darling
Can you hear me, Peter? That's wonderful.
John Darling
Yes, Captain. Release the princess. He has had to have people.
Wendy Darling
Aye, aye, Captain.
John Darling
Release the princess. Answer. But, Captain. Must be no fat Mr. Smee. Aye, aye, sir. All right, Tiger Lily, back to the rowboat. My lady.
Wendy Darling
I told him all along you Indians would never betray Peter Pans.
John Darling
And just what do you think you are doing, Mr. Smee?
Wendy Darling
Just what you call me, Cap'.
John Darling
N. Carrying out orders what they call my prop, you glittering idiot. And he could make up his mind. Let it go. Put him back. Let it go. A man's a fooling again, Wendy.
Peter Pan
By the time I'm through with me, he won't even know his own name.
John Darling
Just exactly what do you think you are doing? Putting her back like you said, Captain. I said nothing of the court. Take the princess back to her people. Understand?
Wendy Darling
Aye, aye, sir. And one thing more.
John Darling
When you return to the ship, tell the crew to help themselves to be very bitter. Up and be very bitter.
Wendy Darling
Look out. It's Captain Hart.
John Darling
Very flat. Imitate me voice, will you?
Peter Pan
Watch this, Wendy.
Wendy Darling
Give it to him, Captain. Cleave him to the brisket.
John Darling
Draw your weapons. Pan. At last we meet on even terms.
Peter Pan
But you've no room, Captain. You're at a disadvantage. I can stand or fly about, but you. One false step and you plunge into the sea.
John Darling
I'll get you, Pam. I'll cure your liver at the tip of me.
Wendy Darling
Captain, look. Mercy.
John Darling
Just look at you.
Peter Pan
What a pity, Mr. Smee.
Wendy Darling
Hanging from a rock with only his
Peter Pan
hook to keep him from falling.
John Darling
I'll get you for this, Pan, if it's the last thing I do. You pushed me off, that's what you did.
Peter Pan
Look at him, Wendy. A codfish hanging by a hook. I say, Captain, do you hear something?
Wendy Darling
Why, bless me.
Peter Pan
We have a visitor.
Wendy Darling
Seven. Seven. He's coming up below you. The crocodile.
John Darling
He's snapping at your business. No.
Wendy Darling
No.
Peter Pan
Good afternoon, Mr. Crocodile. And do you like codfish?
John Darling
You do?
Wendy Darling
Good.
John Darling
Save me. Save me. Oh, this dreadful, cruel boy.
Peter Pan
I'm not going to push you off, but I can't save you either. You see, Captain, that rock you're hanging from is about to give way.
John Darling
Swim for it, Captain.
Wendy Darling
Swim.
John Darling
Come after me. It's just me, Mr. Smee.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Oh, it was a sight to behold. Captain Hook swimming for his life in the hungry crocodile. Lunging after him through the boiling water. Snapping and dreaming hopefully. But reach his ship he did. Scrambling up the anchor chain just as the crocodile's jaws crashed behind him. And from the shore came Peter Pan's taunting cry of victory.
John Darling
Curse you, Peter Pan.
Wendy Darling
Hurt you. Hurt you.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
But Peter was too busy to listen to the ravings of the frustrated pilot. But he and Wendy now were bringing the Indian princess back to her grateful father. What of Captain Hook? Had he learned his lesson at last? Well, if anyone thinks so. They simply don't know very much about Captain Hook.
John Darling
Oh, that boy. That wicked, wicked boy. Making a fool of me again. Me. You gathering imbecile. Where's me mustard pasta? Where's the hookbah? Coming, sir.
Wendy Darling
Coming. And that's not all I'm bringing you, sir.
John Darling
I've got news from the island. Dear me. All those nasty gems. What news from the island? Well, just between us cops and this trouble brewing Woman trouble. Now, I wouldn't want this to go any further, but the cook told me that the first mate told him that
Wendy Darling
he knows that Pan has gone and banished Tinker Bell.
John Darling
Delicious be. What do I care what the cook said to him? Did you say Pan as bad as Tinkerbell? Aye, aye, captain. There he is. But why? Well, on account of windy cap' n K. Tried to do it in. She did. K. Was jealous. That it me. That's it. Oh, there's the wonderful news that shortly vapors. Why, a jealous female can be quick into anything. All we have to do is convince Tinkerbell the wings are to help us. And the little wings will charge our course straight to pan's hiding place. Mr. Smith, take the long boat and go ashore. Well, if it's all a thing to you clapping. I'll stay on board and play Quidditch with the cook. Never eat goose, me. You'll find Tinkerbell and bring her to me. Understand? Well, bless you, Miss Bee.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Poor Dinker Bell. Banished by Peter Pan. Alone, dejected, he's easily captured by Mr. Speed. And now back on the pirate ship ado.
John Darling
My dear Ms. Bell, I have invited you aboard me ship to chat with a mutual friend. That dear lad Peter Pan. Ah, Mrs. What lovely music. What, Joyce, what feelings. Thank you, your honor. Ms. Bell, I want to tell Peter. I want you to tell him that I bear him no ill feeling. Oh, Pan has his faults, to be sure. Bringing that Wendy to the island, for instance. Dangerous business, that. Why, dame? Rumor has it that already she has come between you and Peter. What this cares, Ms. Bell. Ah, then it is true. Let this be a lesson to you, Mr. Smee. Ah, the way of a man with a maid. Taking the best years of her life and then passed into the side like an old drop.
Wendy Darling
It's a doom and shine, that's what it is.
John Darling
Ah, but we mustn't judge Peter too harshly, me dear. It's that Wendy who's to blame. But we've no choice. We must save the lad from himself. A very good question, Nan. But how indeed? You see, we lift anchor. Come tomorrow we sail away. That it's me. We'll shanghai Wendy. Oh, bully, sir. Stupid bully. Take her to sea with us. Wendy gone, Peter will soon forget this mad insurance infatuation. Me we must call it all at once. Surround Pan's home. But, captain, we don't know where Pan lives. Great stop he. A mind like a steel track. Send me dear you can touch. One enters the tree, climbs down below the ground and vents To a cave finger or a hook on Peter Pan. You request me? We found him alive. Listen to the little deer. She wants to go back to the island. Ms. Bell, you've been most helpful. But the only place you're going is in this man. A pretty little prison for a pretty little pixie. Come along, Smee. Peter Pans me prisoner this night or I'm not Captain Hook.
Wendy Darling
Oh, a pirate.
John Darling
Life is a wonderful life of

Three of the Hollywood Radio Theater will continue. Continue. In just a few moments. Corporal Sam adler of the 2nd Armored Division had an idea that he could put his talent to work for the betterment of German American relations. His background included two college degrees in music, and he knew that there were many musicians in the army. So he organized the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra. It was a spare time project that soon gained official notice, and the group made a total of 44 appearances in 43 days. New and difficult scores were learned almost overnight, and German and American music was played at each concert. Everywhere the orchestra traveled, the audiences greeted it with amazement and wild applause. Here was a group, a cross section of America, representing all races and creeds that brought together thousands of people on a common cultural and spiritual plane. There's no doubt that through the medium of music, Corporal Sam Adler made a substantial contribution to the improvement of German American relations. Such acts as these by you and your friends today are shaping our world of tomorrow.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
The sun rises on act 3 of peter pan. Starring bobby driscoll as peter and katherine beaumont as wendy. With john carradine as captain hook and bill thompson as smee. Well, it's now late at night on one side of the island of Never Neverland. Captain Hook, Mrs. Smee and the pirates sneaks stealthily ashore toward Hangman's Tree and Peter Pan's hole. The children have just returned there from the Indian encampment. And Wendy's having a little difficulty getting her younger brothers to go to sleep.
Wendy Darling
Now, I don't want to have to tell you again. Take off the warpies and feathers and get ready for bed. Really, Wendy, there are times when you try my patience. Lads. Me, William. Brave, brave. No sleep all for days without sleep. But, boys, we're going home in the morning. Home? The idea is ridiculous. Oh, Wendy, we don't want to go home. Well, you can't stay. You need a mother. We all do. And you are Mother Wendy? Why, Michael, of course not. Surely you haven't forgotten our real mother. Did she have silky ears and wear a fur coat? Oh, no, Michael. That was Nana the dog. I think I had a mother once. You did, Tubby. What was she like? I forget. I had a white rat. That's no mother. Now, if you'd all be quiet, I'd try to tell you what a mother is. Well, a mother, a real mother, is the most wonderful person in the world. She's the angel voice that bids you good night, kisses your cheeks, whispers, sleep tight. Your mother and mine. Your mother and mine. The helping hand that guides you along. Whether you're right, whether you're wrong. Your mother and mine. You're.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Meanwhile, Captain Hook and the pirates have reached the tree. And it's only fair to say all three of them hearing Wendy's song Brush visitors from bloodshot eyes.
Wendy Darling
Your heart will say. Heaven on earth. For divine one Mother and mine. I want to see my mother. Wendy, I propose to leave for home at once. Can I go too? Huh? Me too. Wendy, let me go too. I'm sure Mother would be glad to have you. That is, if Peter doesn't mind.
Peter Pan
Go on.
John Darling
Go.
Peter Pan
But I'm warning you, once you've grown up, you can never come back. Never.
Wendy Darling
Well, how do you like that?
Peter Pan
What's wrong with Pam?
Wendy Darling
Well, Minnie, shall we be off?
John Darling
You'll be back.
Wendy Darling
Goodbye, Peter. And thank you just the same.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Quickly, the children ran from the cave, then through the tunnel, up the steps and out the hollow trunk of Hangman's Tree. And there, surrounding them is Captain Hook and his wretched crew.
John Darling
Away with the men. Take them back to me ship. And now, mister, you take care of Master Pat. He's still down there, Captain.
Wendy Darling
I heard him.
John Darling
The bomb. Mr. Smith. All I have to do now is lower this box containing the bomb down the hollow tree. There we are.
Wendy Darling
Captain, wouldn't it be more humane, like?
John Darling
Just as quick and zealous that it would, Mistress Me? But I've given me word to Tinker Bell not to lay a finger or a hook on Peter Pat this, and Captain Hook never breaks a promise. Come now, back to the ship. Oh, a pirate. Life is a wonderful night Follow me over the sea Give me a career on the light of a pirate for me O, the light of a pirate
Wendy Darling
for me
John Darling
and now, Mistress me. I carry to you the three young ones from Bloomsbury.
Wendy Darling
You had him stiff, lively bears. I'll get a curtsy. Indeed. Never.
John Darling
Well, young masters and miss, you've had me proposition. Either you join me crew or walk the pike.
Wendy Darling
Oh, no, we won't. Peter Pan will save us.
John Darling
Did you hear that, Mr. Smee? Pan will save him.
Wendy Darling
See what's so funny then?
John Darling
Allow me to tell you dearly, I left a present for Pam. A sort of surprise package, you might say.
Wendy Darling
Package? To be sure.
John Darling
Why, I can see our little friend at this very moment, reading the tender inscription that I wrote upon the box. To Peter, with love from Wendy. Do not open until 6 o'. Clock. What time is it, mistress? Me? 20 seconds from 6. Could he but see within the package, Miss Wendy would find an ingenious little device so delicately set that when the hands of the clock reach thick, Peter Pan will be blasted out of Never Never Land forever.
Wendy Darling
A bomb. Oh, no. No.
John Darling
14 seconds. 13 seconds.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Yes. Captain Hook's triumph is at hand. Is there nothing or no one remains? Look. What this evil man. Ah, but there is. Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell? The little Dixie. Unknown to Captain Cook, Tinkerbell has escaped. And she's flown from the ship quickly to see the.
Peter Pan
Oh, hi, Pink. Hey, I thought I banished you. Take a look at this box. Wendy left it for me. Give it to ya. I'll stop that. Let go of it. What's the matter with you? Bomb. Captain Hook. Don't be silly. How could Captain Hook.
Wendy Darling
Look, it's smoking.
Peter Pan
It is a bomb.
Wendy Darling
Stand back, pig. I'll throw it out of the cave.
John Darling
And so, part of the worthy opponent, Mr. C, kindly remove your hat. Amen. And now, Miss Wendy and gentlemen, which will it be? The pen or the plant?
Wendy Darling
Captain Cook, my brothers and I will never join your crew.
John Darling
As you wish. All right. Your pills.
Peter Pan
Right.
John Darling
Off the pipe they go. You may start, Miss Wendy. Ladies first.
Wendy Darling
Good. Goodbye, boy. Goodbye. Bye, Wendy. Be brave, won't you? I shall strive to, Wendy.
John Darling
Well, she walked the plank, did she not?
Wendy Darling
Straight to the end.
John Darling
And then she jumped. Then where's the splash? It happened in. No splash. Not a strong. Not a blooming ripple. Well, go to the hill and look. Oh, you want the splash, Mr. Poppy? I'll give you a poop. Who's next? You pack of nincompoop. Who else wants to hear a class?
Peter Pan
Your next. Hook. This time you've gone too far.
Wendy Darling
It's T. It's. And Wendy. He saved Wendy. And then, look.
John Darling
Him and the girl up in the rigging. It can't be. It's his drinking ghost what's talking? Say your prayers. Ghost indeed. I run him through for all of you.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
This Peter flew down to the deck, sword in hand. First he slashed the ropes that bound the lost boy together. And as they swarmed across the deck, clapping the fire, Peter and Bates, the masterpiece himself.
Wendy Darling
No paper, Captain Butterfly.
Peter Pan
For what you've Done to Wendy and to her brothers. To say nothing of the Lost Boys and Tinkerbell.
John Darling
Tinkerbell.
Peter Pan
She saved my life. And she means more to me than anyone in the world.
Wendy Darling
So take that.
Peter Pan
And that. And that.
John Darling
No. Mere boy. I hate the demon.
Peter Pan
Your steel will never touch me. You forget, Hook. I can fly.
John Darling
I ain't never ain't flying. Cowardice.
Peter Pan
Coward. Me?
John Darling
You wouldn't dare engage me man to man. You fly away like a cowardly sparrow.
Peter Pan
Nobody calls Pan a coward and live. I'll fight from man to man, Pan. With one hand behind my back.
John Darling
Cross your heart. You won't fly.
Wendy Darling
No, no. It's a thing.
Peter Pan
I give you my word.
John Darling
Then let's have a hit. Insolent. You. Prepare to die.
Wendy Darling
Jesus lie. You're no match for a grown man.
John Darling
No, Never.
Peter Pan
I gave my word.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
Never before or since has mortal man seen such a duel. They fought on the deck. They battled in the rigging and they parried on the yard. And then, pressing his opponent to the rail pen at long last, touched his steel to the scrawny throat of Captain Hook.
John Darling
You wouldn't, lad. You wouldn't. You in old Hope, now, would you? I told you before.
Peter Pan
Say your prayers.
John Darling
I'll go away forever.
Peter Pan
And don't look for help from your crew. They've already deserted him. They left this ship in the longboat.
John Darling
Oh, it's a sad day for piracy and crime. Dad. Dad. Boy. I'll do anything you say.
Peter Pan
Well, all right then. I'll spare you on this one condition. If you say you're a codfish, I'm a codfish slaughter.
John Darling
I'm a codfish.
Peter Pan
All right, Hook. You're free to go and never return.
Wendy Darling
Peter, into the dog you're at.
John Darling
You, girl. I always had him with me.
Peter Pan
Iron Hook, this is the end. I was a fool to cut you. And since you're a codfish. Into the sea you go, where you belong,
John Darling
Crocodile. No, me.
Wendy Darling
Me. Wait.
John Darling
For.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
The last they saw Captain Hook, he was still floating, hotly pursued over the horizon by a very happy crocodile. Hook's ship now belongs to Peter Pan. And the very first command from Captain Pan is directed at Tinkerbell.
Peter Pan
Well, Tink, we're hoisting the anchor. I hereby order you to sprinkle this entire ship with pixie dust. We're flying down to London.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
And that's exactly what happened. Full sail to the wind, the ship sped down the Milky Way and over London town. It left two boys and one girl safely in their home on Bloomsbury Street.

the stairs to make sure their children were asleep.
Wendy Darling
I hope that's changed your mind about Wendy. After all, George, she still is a child.
John Darling
Oh, shock. Mary, you know I never mean no thing.
Wendy Darling
Well, in the morning we'll tell if she may.
John Darling
George.
Wendy Darling
George, Wendy is not in her bed. Quickly, dear, turn off the lamp.
John Darling
Wendy, what on earth are you doing at the window?
Wendy Darling
Asleep, dear?
Peter Pan
At the window?
Wendy Darling
Oh, Mother, we're back.
John Darling
Back?
Wendy Darling
Yes, Father. We'll never never left Never Never Land. Oh, yes, but I am am ready to grow up, Father.
John Darling
Oh. Oh, well, my dear, all in good time. After all, perhaps we were a little hasty.
Wendy Darling
Oh, but it was such a wonderful adventure. Why, we were even kidnapped. And I knew Peter Pan would save us. And he did. And we all called him a coffee. Oh, Captain, look. I know. And then we sailed away on a ship in the.
John Darling
Mary, I'm going to bed.
Wendy Darling
Oh, Mother. He really is wonderful, isn't he? Look out the window. See how well he sails the ship. Now, dear, there's nothing out there in the sky except George.
John Darling
George, look now what?
Wendy Darling
There against the moon.
John Darling
We are not married. I have this faintest feeling that I've seen that ship before. A long time ago when I was a little boy. There's Windy, dear. He really is wonderful. There's no better time to start. It's all the joy you'll find when you leave the world behind and get your kids.
Narrator/Host
In a moment our stars will return. This is really a story about two people. One is Chief Petty Officer Harry Frame, a veteran Navy electrician who saw lots of action in the war in the Pacific. The other is Mrs. Sadaya Ishiwata of Tokyo. Mrs. Ishiwata turned her home and her fortune over to 53 boys and girls of all ages who were orphaned by World War II. And Chief Frame devoted his off duty hours to helping this tiny Japanese lady. He organized his friends into work teams. And because of their work, the home took on a bright new look. New panes of glass were installed, A new girls dormitory was built. And twice a week a Navy truck rolled up with leftover food, writing paper, worn out clothing and other contributions from the man. Chief Frame made it his private project toward better relationships between people of two different countries. And it's paid off in mutual goodwill. Such acts by you and your friends today are shaping our world of tomorrow. And now, Mr. Cummings, with our stars.
Irving Cummings (Producer/Narrator)
And here they are, Peter Pan and Wendy.

John Darling
No, Kathy, that's just me watch. You're telling me it's time for us to leave.

Dialogue is crisp, energetic, and true to the characters' personalities, from Peter’s brash confidence to Wendy’s nurturing sweetness and Hook’s bombastic villainy.
This radio adaptation of Peter Pan is a nostalgic, family-friendly journey through childhood fantasy.
