And I'm Dr. Gina. All right, you guys, good morning. It's Waffle Wednesday. I just completely made that up. I don't think that's even true. But David and Terrence do love waffles. So I'm here in Palm beach, but let's bring in David Brody. They have lots of waffles in Washington, D.C. and Terrence Bates is in our Denver newsroom. I'm not sure how I got started. I think. I think it was not my best night of sleep. So you guys should be on the lookout, maybe.

Oh, gosh. This is gonna be a show.

Terrence Bates

So since you started with the whole waffle and food thing, Dr. Gina, I have recently discovered stuffed French toast. It's French toast that's got, like, sweetened cream cheese and all this other stuff in it. And I'm hooked. Like, I think for the next probably three months, anytime I go to breakfast, stuffed French toast is what I'm gonna ask for. It is to die for.

David Brody

That sounds great.

Dr. Gina

How do you stuff toast? I mean, I wanna talk about this for a minute. Cause I'm thinking it's not a real thing. Like, I'm thinking it has to be. Like, 2P is a French toast that somebody stuck some cream cheese and whatever in the middle of. Right?

Terrence Bates

Ooh. So I'm not going to even lie. I have no idea how they've prepared it. But it's French toast that has the cream cheese in the middle. And it's typically very thick. So I don't know if it's two pieces or if it's just thick bread that they hollow out. And then, you know, dip in the French toast. Dip, but then put the cream in the middle. But it is to die for. It's, you know, it's got this cream cheese and it's typically sweetened. And what I had was. Had strawberries on it. And when I tell you it's life changing, like, I think I'm a changed man.

David Brody

For sure. And my apologies, folks, that the fat guy in me came out. But when Dr. Gina said waffles, my mind immediately went to stuffed French toast. So let's be professionals and talk about the news of the day. The Wall Street Journal is out with this headline says Trump approves landmark nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia and a big win for the kingdom. This particular deal, which we are expecting to be publicly announced as soon as today. It may not come out today, but as soon as today would open the door for uranium enrichment there in Saudi Arabia. The thing is that American companies would actually have a central role in any uranium enrichment in Saudi Arabia or in the development of any sort of uranium enrichment sort of plant there in Saudi Arabia. We're hearing that this is a 30 year plan that could ultimately, as I said, allow for construction of some sort of uranium enrichment facility. David, what do you make of all of this? It's big news that another country would, particularly a Saudi country or Saudi Arabia, would be allowed to enrich uranium. You know, I'm a nuclear non proliferation guy, so I want to see us start to cut access to nukes instead of growing it. But what do you make of this?

David Brody

Well, they say it's for civilian purposes, but either way, on the surface, this doesn't, doesn't seem too great for me. I mean, you know, it's not wetting my whistle, if you will. Look, I get. Let's do the disclaimer. Here we go, yada yada, geopolitical. You gotta work with everybody. I know. He's trying to build a new Middle East. Got it. Okay, check on the disclaimer. Having said that, let me just say a couple of things. Did America first slash maga? And I say slash because it's different factions of maga. Did America first sign up for this? Exact. Did MAGA sign up for this?

I mean,

US Companies getting enriched over helping the Saudis enrich uranium. I don't think that was on the 2024 campaign platform. Neither was helping the Lebanese army defeat Hezbollah, which happened last yesterday at the White House. The President's in essence saying, yeah, we're going to help you out with millions of dollars. What are we doing there? And the Gaza project that we talked about about a year ago, wherever that is right now, all of that money being we haven't even gotten to the Iran war and what happened in Venezuela. I'm just simply saying that this feels not like anything that President Trump was really concentrating on at all during the campaign at all. And this. If I'm America First, I'm pretty ticked.

Dr. Gina

Yeah, I don't remember this on the campaign trail. That's certainly to be sure. Marco Rubio was asked about this. He said didn't want to get out in front of the President, but this wasn't about any kind of proliferation. Well, then my question is, so why you picture the guy who comes into the Oval Office, Right. David, I think I sent you an article about this yesterday. And he's like, I've got this, this, and this, and this that we need to do for the midterms. And you're just trying to figure out where this is on that list. Wait, where is this on the list of priorities, things we need to get done before midterms? Because I'm worried about midterms, and it's not a popular opinion to be worried about midterms, but we work too hard for too long to let go of what can be done if we don't lose the House and Senate, so.

David Brody

Well, enriching U.S. companies. Yeah, well, I think it's more than that. I think enriching U.S. companies is part of that military industrial complex we talk about all the time. And that was not anything that the America First MAGA crowd thought they would get from this president. And it seems that's exactly what they're getting.

Dr. Gina

It's. It's. It might not sit well. Like, talk about it for sure. All right, let's check out today's Bible.

All right, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane were on Capitol Hill yesterday testifying and had this exchange with Louisiana Senator who never stops giving John Kennedy regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Will they put tolls on the Strait? I don't know, sir. That's a decision. That's a hypothetical and will depend on what happens. It's not hypothetical. We got a blockade to stop them. We do, sir. That's putting economic pressure on them. I'm not asking you for, I'm not trying to get you in trouble. I know your advice to the president is private, but this is serious as four heart attacks and a stroke. Now, what happens if we come home and end the blockade to the world? Sir, Iran has the potential to continue to be a threat and we're, we will need to prepare military. Will they toll the straight? Sir, that's a hypothetical question and I don't know the answer to that. Oh, it's not hypothetical. You come, we come home. It's not going to be hypothetical. You know that, General, and I do, too. And I, I appreciate your discretion, but we're down to it. We need some hard answers and some straight talk. What will happen, Pete? Senator, I would, I would agree with

Let's bring in our RAV DC correspondent Neil McCabe. Neal, who's on the ground with President Trump in Georgia. You're on the ground with President Trump in Georgia. Trump is slated to speak on the success of Trump accounts. Neil, we want to get to that in just a minute, but I'm concerned about this nuclear proliferation, this situation with Saudi Arabia. What can you tell us?

Neil McCabe

Well, obviously, you know, the president's always trying to create investment business opportunities after, you know, four years of the Biden administration that didn't really think that was a priority. And he's trying to put booster cables on the economy. And I think, you know, earlier when you're talking about the midterms, one of the ways, you know, you help yourself in the midterms is you get the economy moving and you start creating jobs. But obviously there are questions. It's 25 years after 9, 11, which was brought to us by Saudi Arabia. Okay, maybe it's okay now and we're fine. The president said that this will create jobs in business. I think Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, he said, okay, I'm going.

Dr. Gina

I'm sorry, Neil. I just, I'm just looking at maga, who has a big problem with the military industrial complex. And I'm looking at who's gonna get rich from this. Neil, I don't think we're pulling the wool over anyone's eyes to think this is gonna trickle down to the middle class.

Neil McCabe

Well, let me say my next point was going to be that my other concern as I was listening to you guys talk about it, is that the seeds of Barack Obama's ascension to the White House were sown with a thing called the K Street Project, where the Republican leadership basically in the Chamber of Commerce said, we're going to work together and we're going to make a ton of money for big corporations, and then the big corporations are going to finance the Republican Party, and we don't really care about the voters or what they're interested in. And so I've always said that the Tea Party revolt was not a revolt against Barack Obama. The Tea Party revolt was a revolt against the Republican leadership, the Chamber of Commerce, the K Street Project, and all of those, you know, and, you know, Steve Bannon always talks about, you know, what tower are you getting your signal from? And this is a situation where maybe the president and the administration are getting signal from the wrong tower.

David Brody

Great point, Neil. There's some news we're gonna get to about voter rolls in New Jersey. But before we get to that, tell us about Georgia. You're there. Trump savings accounts. What's going on? What's the deal?

Neil McCabe

Well, obviously, the Trump accounts are a huge part of this push to really integrate regular Americans who aren't really involved in politics to sort of get involved and understand that President Trump has created an opportunity for their children. And that's going to be one of the things that the president talks about when he's on the road, and that will happen today. Of course, the other reason he's here is because Georgia was kind of in play as a purple state. It was. You know, and so what we're trying to do is, you know, we're trying to figure out how do we push Georgia back into the straight red column. And so he'll be campaigning for Rick Jackson today, who's the Republican nominee for governor. Not the president's choice, but, you know, he's backing the Republican and of course, is a very exciting Senate candidate, Mike Collins, the congressman, who has an absolutely phenomenal and lethal Twitter account. And so it'll be a rally for the Republican Party here in Georgia, but it also be the bigger message of that the Trump accounts are live and your kids are going to be really benefiting from this new program.

Terrence Bates

Really quickly, before we let you go, David already kind of mentioned this. 6,600 non citizens were registered to vote In New Jersey because of a software error. That's the NBC headline this morning. So says the governor. Governor Sherrill also reviewed his review. Excuse me. Found roughly 400 non citizens cast ballots in 2023 and 2024. The DOJ is now investigating. It brings to mind issues like what happened in Michigan. This is a major problem. The President obviously talked about these sorts of issues during his primetime speech the other day. But now it looks like we're starting to really get some action or even more movement. More light is being shed on this issue.

Neil McCabe

Yeah, Governor Sherrill, she's just trying to feed the beast. Homeland Security Secretary Mullen, he said that there were 35,000 illegals registered to vote in New Jersey, which is why he sent their secretary of state a letter. And then, miracle of miracles, it turns out that New Jersey says, well, you know, maybe there's almost 7,000. It's almost like they're negotiating, but it's a real problem. I was told over and over again that this never happens, that this is just part of my crazy imagination that illegals would be even registered to vote and that illegals would be voting. But here it is. And so if. If the Democrats who run New Jersey lock, stock and barrel, if they're willing to concede 7,000, there's gotta be more.

Terrence Bates

Fair enough.

Dr. Gina

That's exactly true. Well, Neil, turns out, guess what? You weren't crazy. I think most of us that have been called crazy have learned that that just means we're actually onto something. Neil McCabe, thank you for being here.

It's not really why I called, but I did want to mention that the United States Coast Guard, where I spent eight years on active duty, is known for having the best food of all of the armed forces. And when I was on Coast Guard cutter Campbell for three years, I thoroughly enjoyed French toast puffs, which were deep fried French toast. And you know, and who knows, it may have taken 10 years off of my life. And I knew it then and I know it now. And I have no regrets.

Iran remains front of mind for President Trump this morning after we learned yesterday on Capitol Hill that the war effort has cost the American people about $37.5 billion so far. Tuesday, the president laid out the stakes for the Islamic Republic, though, while meeting with Lebanon's president there in the Oval Office. While the bilateral meeting focused on returning security to Lebanon or in Lebanon to the Lebanese army and neutralizing Iran backed Hezbollah, the leaders also addressed the ongoing peace talks between Israel and Lebanon. On Iran, of course, remains the key element threatening any and all peace negotiations and efforts.

Neil McCabe

They're in this because of nuclear weapons and they're trying to possibly reconstitute a site. We'll hit that site. Any site where they're even thinking about nuclear will be hitting it very, very powerfully. Now nobody knows except the Iranians the damage that we've done to them. We have done damage that will take them 20, 25 years to recover from. So if we left tomorrow, we had a big, we had a big success.

Meantime, back home, House Republicans working to avoid another government shutdown come September by passing a bill to fund the federal government through December 4th. The spending plan passed mostly along a party line vote with House Speaker Mike Johnson and telling Democrats who voted against the measure, quote, they alone are going to own the chaos that ensues if the government shuts down after September 30th. It's unusual for Congress to pass a stopgap funding bill months before the end of the fiscal year. But with the upcoming midterm elections, Republicans are looking to hold serve while Democrats are seeking to play the spoiler role. Tuesday's vote comes just days before the House is scheduled to leave town. There are only 16 days left in the legislative session before the funding deadline. The House GOP argues extending funding through December 4th will allow Congress more time to work on the Dozens or the 1 dozen annual spending bills that will need to be passed. That's a quick check of your headlines. Now let's get a quick check of your forecast. Weather Nation meteorologist Tracy Anthony standing by with more on what you can expect there. Tracy, good morning.

Hey, good morning. You know, we're still talking about Bertha. So Bertha is still with us, Big Bertha. Big Bertha is still here with us in the Gulf, but not so big as when it comes to a tropical system. But you can see here, Orange beach, the coastal areas, they will deal with some impacts, but the worst of the impacts will stay offshore. So just a few isolated rumbles of thunder, coastal flooding possibly where we could have up to about 4ft of inundation in some localized areas and then some gusty winds. So winds right now with this storm system are about 50 miles per hour. And the thunderstorm activity really staying south of it. So this is not going to cause too many concerns across the lower 48. So over the next couple of days, we are talking about heat and flooding Terrans. That will be some of the top weather stories. So don't forget to drop your hometown in some of those social chats if you need some more details on your local forecast.

That is Trenton, Georgia, not to be confused with Trenton, New Jersey. Welcome back everybody, to American Sunrise. We have popped up on your screen yet again just like a good old Pop tart. All right, American Sunrise is back and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is back saying some nonsense. He says he does not have the legal authority, which is actually true, to enforce the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. That's the common sense part. The fact that he would even think about it is ridiculous. Take a look. I agree with the ICC that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and tried for his crimes as I do for anyone else charged by the icc. My administration has reviewed every avenue available under applicable law to determine whether New York City could execute the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant if Benjamin Netanyahu came here. It is clear that we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant. The federal government, however, does, and I call on them to join the ICC and execute this warrant. But let me just say that these people that say Israel has committed a genocide, if that is the case, they are doing a horrible, horrible job at it because they could carpet bomb the whole place in about 25 minutes. Give me a break.

Yeah, Israel went to all ends to avoid civilian casualties in this war with less people killed, less civilians than in any urban warfare scenario in the world. And that's according to John Spencer, the head of the Urban Warfare Unit at West Point. And this is a kangaroo court, which is the reason why the United States is not part of the International Criminal Court. You would think that the United States, which is the leader of the free world, would be part of the International Criminal Court if they thought that that court had any validity to it. So the United States is not part of it. Zoran Mandani understood that from the outset. He knew that he has no power to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu, not to mention that any visiting head of state to the United nations has diplomatic immunity. So he knew that as well. But, you know, this is what American Ambassador to United Nations Mike Waltz calls pure political theater.

Yeah, that's really what it comes down to. President Trump met with Lebanon's president at the White House yesterday. They even talked about potentially, Lebanon potentially joining the Abraham Accords. Here was the soundbite, and then we'll talk on the other side.

Neil McCabe

The Abraham Accords have been, I think, a tremendous success. I think you're going to see a lot of countries joining pretty soon. As you know, we have our original group and they are. It's so successful for them, economically successful. It's been that nobody left even during this time of conflict. So, no, I think Lebanon has a very important place.

Terrence Bates

So here's a more immediate question I have for you. Is there optimism there in Israel about the talks between Israel and Lebanon at the moment? Because it seems to me from the outside looking in that Hezbollah is the real stumbling block there in terms of the relationship between Israel and Lebanon, that it's not necessarily the Lebanese government, or at least there's opportunity between the Lebanese government and Israel. But Hezbollah is the ultimate stumbling block. Am I wrong there? Please Explain this to me.

Alex Trehman

Absolutely right. For everybody that says that, you know, Israel just seeks wars with its neighbors, Israel seeks peace with its neighbors. Even as Israel's attacking inside Lebanon against Hezbollah, they're sitting down with the Lebanese government to negotiate peace that has always been prevented by the presence of Hezbollah and even before that, Palestinian terror organizations led by Yasser Arafat. I was in Rome this past week. I met with the Israeli ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, who was leading the Israeli negotiations team. He told me that these negotiations were carried out under a very, very friendly atmosphere, that the two countries have a lot of similar objectives here. And he believes that there can be a true normalization between these countries which can include defense arrangements, it can include economic arrangements, and even could potentially in the future include tourists going back and forth across the borders.

Terrence Bates

I'd like to follow up because I'm curious how much of the focus from the Lebanese standpoint is on eradicating Hezbollah. It seems like the onus is really on the Lebanese more so than the Israelis when it comes to doing away with Hezbollah to hopefully create a path towards freedom and peace.

Well, I think one of the big mistakes in previous flare ups between Israel and Lebanon was that Israel was forced to withdraw from the territory. And the Lebanese government understands that. And that's why when they signed this preliminary MOU just a few weeks back, it was the first time that the Lebanese government actually acceded to the very fact that the Israeli military will remain inside southern Lebanon as long as that area remains a threat to Israel. And so Israel has withdrawn slightly from two different pilot zones that they're testing right now. But it could be a long time before the Israeli government moves out. They need to see the Lebanese armed forces able and ready to stabilize that area because the last thing you want is Hezbollah coming back down there near the Israeli border. That would certainly be a recipe for future conflict.

Dr. Gina

There are new satellite images appearing to show Israel building a miles long earthen barrier inside the Gaza structure strip. The Israeli military confirmed it is building a physical barrier in the area of the so called yellow line which is Israeli troops withdrew as to, as part of. Let me try this again. Which Israeli troops withdrew to as a part of an October cease fire agreement. The construction has raised concerns among obviously Palestinians, but also Americans that the temporary dividing line could become a more permanent sort of a border. This comes of course, as there is a growing skepticism of, let's just say, motives regarding Israel to begin with among Americans. What can you tell us about this?

Alex Trehman

Well, the MOU that was signed. The ceasefire agreement signed between Israel, Gaza and the United States called for the complete disarmament of Hamas and for Hamas no longer to be the ruling entity in the Gaza Strip. That hasn't happened. All Israeli withdrawals are conditioned on the fact that, that Hamas will be disarmed. So as long as Hamas remains in charge, as long as they remain in control of their tens of thousands of assault rifles that they use to terrorize their own population, at this point, you're not going to see Israel budge. Now, the purpose of putting a physical barrier there is just to make sure that everybody understands where the line is, where if you cross it, that Israel will consider that to be a direct threat. Now, as you mentioned, it's an earthen barrier, meaning that it could be very easily plowed over the moment that Hamas disarms and Israel agrees to further withdrawals.

Dr. Gina

And is that the plan as of now?

Alex Trehman

Well, again, we have to see what, what Hamas is, what their intentions are. I mean, for Israel, the main purpose of the deal was a ceasefire in exchange for getting back all of its living and dead hostages. This was the stage one of that deal that happened. But the next stages of the deal, they, they are contingent on de radicalization of the population, on the disarmament. So I don't think you're going to see Israel move even an inch as long as Hamas clings to power.

David Brody

Absolutely. Well, they shouldn't. They're trying to protect lives and the onus is on Hamas. Alex Trehman, great to have you with us. Thank you so much.

Trump posted on Truth Social that Burnham has a, quote, big job ahead of him, but he also pledged that the United States would be there to help. Trump said the two discussed trade, North Sea oil, their military alliance, and demining the Strait of Hormuz. British officials said the leaders also discussed shared priorities and agreed to remain in close contact. All right, let's bring in U.S. political reporter for the Daily Mail. Well, thank you guys both so much for having me, and thank you for that lovely and warm introduction. You know, there's a couple of things that we can look at here. I think, first of all, this underscores the fact that President Trump can have cordial relationships even with people that are kind of diametrically opposed politically to him. And, you know, I think his, his welcoming of Andy Burnham into this role really underscores that. You know, it's similar to past discussions and deliberations that we've seen him have with, for example, New York City mayors or Imam Dami, even though those two have kind of been at it a little bit over the last week or so, particularly over Benjamin Netanyahu. But, you know, I think the other thing that we have to look at here is that I think that Andy Burnham is already sort of following some of the mistakes of his predecessor, Keir Stalmer, at least when it comes to domestic policy in Britain, for example, I think one of the biggest things he's already getting criticism over is appointing Angela Rayner to be Housing Secretary over in the uk and she, of course, is somebody that, you know, was really part of that long line of either unvetted or, you know, really kind of questionable appointments by Keir Sommer. And Rayner, of course, had to step away from that role in the Stommer government in the Starmer Cabinet because it was discovered that she had underpaid, you know, what they call duty. So basically underpaying taxes. You know, at the end she, she paid that back. It was determined that it was kind of not deliberate. But I think it really makes you question, right when you have somebody that is responsible for billions of dollars in the US or billions of pounds in the UK in a government budget, you really have to question who are these people that you are surrounding yourself with as a prime minister. And, you know, it really seems like he is willing to, to follow some of those mistakes that we saw Stallmer make.

All right. Well, I'll tell you, as Americans who have traveled a lot there, I think the big concern Americans look at that whole area for is what are they going to do? What are politicians going to do about the Islamization, the Sharia law being enacted over there? It's scary times, at least in the headlines from what we read here in America. Governors from both parties, senators from both parties, Democrats in the House calling, thanking me for saying what everybody's been saying behind the scenes, which is that this stuff is going Too far. I am a progressive Democrat. You want to talk about prison reform? I've done it as well as anybody. Republican Democrats in the south with Trump. I've done prison reform. I never said have no prisons. Where are you going to put the Klan? I've done police reform. I never said no police. Where are you going to put the pedophiles? Who's going to grab the pedophiles? This stuff is going too far. And part of the thing that has to happen is we saw what happened in the Republican Party when things started going in a nutty direction and nobody stood up. I am happy that the young people are fighting for affordability, Medicare for all, all the good things. I've been waiting my whole life to see a youth movement do what it's doing, but it's being hijacked by people who are putting in nutty ideas supporting terrorists, nutty ideas saying that we don't need cops in prison.

It's a cool graphic there. Welcome back to American Sunrise. All right, time now for a moment of faith in focus. Today this week marks Tisha B'Av in the Hebrew calendar. Look, I grew up Jewish and I can't even pronounce some of these, okay? I was bar mitzvahed and I did a little bit of Hebrew and that's about it. Sue me. The name, by the way, simply means the ninth of Av, the fifth month of the biblical calendar. I'm really butchering this intro. Beginning at sunset tonight, Jewish people throughout the world will observe a solemn fast commemorating the destruction of the Jerusalem temple. It is traditionally considered the saddest day in the Jewish calendar. Alright, so here to help us analyze this and pronounce everything correctly is Jim Moseley, the author of The Duke of D.C. the American dream. He's got a lot of books, so you have about seven minutes. Discovering Jesus disciples, who they were, what they believed and what they achieved. Jim also co wrote a book with Dr. G, the days of Creation by Heart, teaching children how God made the world around here. Of course, he is the Bible history guy and joins us now. Jim, tell us more and go ahead. Pronounce it correctly because I'm sure I butchered the holiday. Go ahead.

Simple Tisha Bov and it begins in the 6th century BC. That's when Judas King Zedekiah rebelled against Babylon. So the Babylonians besieged Jerusalem and they breached the city walls on June 24, 586 BC. So Jerusalem felt, but the temple was still standing. Now, Second Kings says that on 7 of August 1, the captain of the guard of Babylon burned the house of the Lord. But Jeremiah says It was on the 10th of AV that they did that. Now the Babylonian Talmud explains this apparent, you know, contradiction. So here's what happened. The Babylonians entered Jerusalem on the 7th of Av, desecrated the Temple on the 7th and 8th, set it on fire on the evening of the 9th, and the Temple continued burning all through the 10th. A famous rabbi named Yohanan said, had I been alive back then, I would have established the fast day on the 10th of AB, because that's when the sanctuary mostly burned. Now here's the curious thing. More than six centuries later, the tragedy happened again. In AD 66. The Jews rebelled against Rome. The Romans surrounded Jerusalem in AD 70, and after a siege of five months, they broke through walls. Jewish historian Josephus, who witnessed this, wrote that the second temple was also burned on the 10th of AV in AD 70. So the first temple and the second temple were both destroyed on the same day of the year, over six centuries apart. So Tisha Bav the 9th of AV is this day of fasting starting tonight, that gathers all this history into one solemn day of mourning. But if we ask the strictly historical question, on what day were both temples burned? Actually, it was on the 10th of Av, not the 9th. So Rabbi Yohanan was right.

David Brody

So are we supposed to read anything into the fact that historically both were burned on the 10th? I mean, is there any conclusion we should come to that or. No, that just happens to be happenstance.

Jim Moseley

Well, I know that my Jewish friends ascribe a lot of importance to it. A lot of. There's a deep irony, but I'm not sure that anybody really derives anything scriptural or theological from it. It's just amazingly remarkable.

David Brody

Yeah, these Jewish holidays, I tell you what, it's amazing they have so many holidays, by the way. The Jews have so many holidays, I would say. Why is that? I'm assuming because they have a long history and a long history with God.

Well, mainly why it is is because most of their holidays are tied to agricultural cycles, which are very important. So, for example, when you. When, when, when Somebody experienced a famine. They didn't know it was a famine until the second harvest of the year failed.

David Brody

All right, guys, let's get to a couple of headlines here. 37 and a half billion dollars of your tax money has already been spent on the war against Iran, and the Department of War wants even more cash. That's the long and short of Secretary of War Pete Hagsett's fiery testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday. The verbal shots between hegseth and lawmakers were fired almost immediately after the Pentagon chief laid out the need for President Trump's one and a half trillion dollar defense budget, calling the funding urgent and necessary. Iran, in the meantime, remains front of mind for President Trump as well as he laid out the stakes for the Islamic Republic while meeting with Lebanon's president in the Oval Office on Tuesday. While the bilateral meeting focused on returning security in Lebanon to the Lebanese army and neutralizing Iran backed Hezbollah, the leaders also addressed the ongoing peace talks between Israel and Lebanon. In fact, Iran remains the key element threatening any and all peace negotiations and efforts. Plus, the president says the regime is still actively pursuing its nuclear ambitions despite having its capacity largely diminished. And House Republicans working to avoid another government shutdown come September. They're doing so by passing a bill to fund the federal government through December 4th. The spending plan passed mostly along a party line vote, with House Speaker Mike Johnson telling Democrats who voted against the measure, quote, they alone are going to own the chaos that ensues if the government shuts down after September 30th. It's unusual for Congress to pass a stopgap funding bill months before the end of a fiscal year. But with the upcoming midterm elections, Republicans are looking to hold serve, while Democrats are seeking to play the spoiler role. Tuesday's vote comes just days before the House is scheduled to leave town. That's a quick check of your headlines. Now let's get a quick check of your forecast. Weather Nation meteorologist Tracy Anthony has your hometown forecast. Good morning, Titi.

Hey, good morning. We're starting off in Joplin, Missouri, where things are going to be heating up for the end of July, 88 degrees today. Not bad. But look at these temperatures just going to continue to climb over the next couple of days. So twinkleman71 on YouTube, brace for that heat by early next week. We are talking triple digits, but plenty of sunshine. So when you have the high pressure center that takes over, it's sinking air or a stable environment. So the rain chances will remain on the low side. But this heat is going to be widely spread across the country as we round out the month and head into August. Now, second stop is Galveston, Texas. This coming in from Gitter, 95 degrees today. It's hot, it's humid, it's tropical. Galveston is now under a tropical storm watch because of Bertha as it makes its way just south of Louisiana. And we're going to stop in Bertha, Minnesota, because Bertha in the Gulf not bringing a ton of impacts, but it looks like Bertha, Minnesota, naturally, it's a city in Minnesota. I'm from Minnesota. So when we're looking up, if there was a city across the country, Bertha, we found it. And they're gonna be warming up that ridge, impacting Bertha, Minnesota as well. It's actually just west of Brainerd. Terrence, I don't know if you know anything about cities in Minnesota, but Bertha looks just directly west of Brainerd.

Where's Brainerd? I know Minneapolis, Duluth.

Brainerd is kind of in between, closer to Duluth, but in the center part of the state.

Good morning, T. Bates. All right. House Speaker Mike Johnson, White House Budget Director Russ Vogt met with House Republicans urging them to support a budget resolution that would clear the way for a party line reconciliation bill. We expect that vote to happen today. The package includes $95 billion for the war with Iran and farm aid, along with $10 billion in grants to encourage states to adopt voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements. Leaders also promised conservatives another opportunity to pass a broader reconciliation bill after the midterm elections. But first things first. Some fiscal hoax, by the way. Remain skeptical about that. Joining us now with reaction is Indiana Congressman Marlon Stutzman. Congressman, there is a lot going on up on the Hill. My head's spinning and I'm not even in Congress. So Help us through this. The budget reconciliation bill. It's going to be voted on today. Is that the plan? But then Thune doesn't want to move it in the Senate until they get a government funding bill. What is going on? And I need an Excedrin.

Congressman Marlon Stutzman

I tell you, talk about eyes rolling regarding the Senate operations. You know, just with Newt Gingrich last night, of course, legendary speaker of the House, and talking about, you know, the Senate is the low watermark. I mean, it's the lowest hurdle, you know, to clear or the highest hurdle to clear, I guess, which depends which way you want to look at it. Because of their filibuster rule, you know, they require 60 votes to get across the cloture vote to go to final passage. And Democrats just simply are willing to hold us hostage and not help out on anything because of their fixation on ICE and border patrol that, you know, President Trump and Republicans have said is a top priority and that the American people voted President Trump back in on that particular issue. But, you know, here we are. We've just passed a clean cr, a continuing resolution on the current federal budget through December to get it past the election. But what we believe is that Democrats want to shut the government down. They want to see chaos at the airports. They want to see chaos across the country because the government's shut down. They think that'll hurt Republicans in our chances to win the election. It worked for them last year in New Jersey and in Virginia. And so it's already started. We just saw Jake Sherman post that John Thune, Senator Thune said that the CR is basically dead on arrival once it gets to the Senate and that he's going to have to work with Democrats to find a path forward. So this is going to be quite the show over the next couple months.

David Brody

Quick follow up. What about that budget reconciliation bill, the reconciliation 3.0? That vote is today. Is it still on and will it pass?

Congressman Marlon Stutzman

It is, yeah, it'll pass the House. I mean, you know, we have sometimes a smaller majority in margin in the House compared to the Senate, and yet we get things passed in the House. So it will pass and then it'll go to the Senate and it's all going to have to be hashed out in the Senate.

David Brody

Got it.

Terrence Bates

Hey, Congressman, if I can just continue to beat this dead horse. Let me follow up here. So you and your colleagues are set to leave, leave Washington, I believe at the end of the week. There's still these outstanding appropriations bills. Yeah, you've passed the CR but it looks like it may be DOA in the Senate. Should Speaker Johnson force everyone to stay and hash all of this out, you don't get to go home until it's fixed. That's what I'd like to see. I suspect there are many Americans who would like to see something similar. Your response?

Congressman Marlon Stutzman

Well, I mean, frankly, it's going to depend on the Senate. If the Senate can't get anything done. I mean, we got our work done.

House Republicans, we passed a cr. We passed. We're going to pass the budget resolution. We've passed the Save America act four times. We've passed the. We're going to pass the NDAA for military funding. Yes, there are still appropriations bills to pass, but there's no. We've done everything that we can do so far. If the Senate decides and Senate Democrats decide that they're not going to let Republicans govern and create chaos, there's little we can do now. Should the Senate stay? Absolutely. I would argue that they stay and they. They figure it out. But House Republicans, we'd be just sitting here twiddling our thumbs, waiting for the Senate to. To figure something out. Now, we could all go walk over there, I guess, and, and surround them, but that probably wouldn't be well received.

Terrence Bates

I'd pay for that, though. I'm not gonna lie. I'll send you $20 to cash app to see that.

David Brody

Please do that. We just want to roll on it and get a good clip and get the clicks.

He urged lawmakers to approve President Trump's request for $87.6 billion in supplemental funding. This hearing was interrupted multiple times with Democrat Senator Gary Peters openly screaming at the war Secretary. Have a look at this.

I definitely want our military well funded. $90 billion, though Congressman, I've got to admit, I have a little sticker shock.

Congressman Marlon Stutzman

Yeah, no, and you know what? Rightly so, I did as well. We went down to the Pentagon last week, met with Secretary Hegseth and asked them those questions like what is this for? And so some of it is for the conflict in Iran. There's going to be some backfilling for artillery, but a lot of this is all forward looking. It's for our shipbuilding. We are behind on ships and what we build here in the United States. China is building ships at a clip that is way beyond us. Drones. We're behind on drone warfare. The Ukraine, Russia war has brought drone technology to places that we've never seen before. I was on the border of Israel and Lebanon and what Hezbollah is using with these fish line drones, it's almost impossible to detect them because they guide them so low with a fish line that's trailing. And so we're trying to catch up. You know, the other piece is building out the F47s, the new fighter jets. So a lot of this money would be spent over the next 10 years while we would up front it now, now we're trying to build out the military. President Trump wants to build out the military. Now we're seeing a lot of the benefits today from what President Reagan did with the B2 bombers and the other amazing aircraft that we have and technology. But President Trump wants to build this out now. I mean, if we have another President Joe Biden, God forbid they're going to let our defense and our military suffer. And so that's what. But this is a long term investment, not just a one time expenditure.

Dr. Gina

Right? But we look at this, we look at the, you know, this whole Saudi Arabian nuke situation and a lot of the people that were like, no new wars, no regime change that voted for this because this was what we were told to expect, they're looking at this going, first of all, I want to know where's the doge on military? Because there are a lot of military contractors that make a lot of money and some of these price tags are in insane. Congressman, who's overlooking this.

Congressman Marlon Stutzman

Yeah, no, great question. And Secretary Hegseth actually commented on that. The Department of Defense now, the Department of War has not passed an audit in decades. They're actually going through an audit. And Secretary Hegseth said that should be done by the middle of next year. So that's a movement in the right direction. We, you know, many of my friends even at the military said that there's so much waste there's so much abuse. So this money is basically allotted for new technology. They're also working with, you know, all this kind of the safe defense contractors that have been given these, you know, massive contracts in the past. That's no longer happening. They're actually utilizing newer companies, smaller companies, companies that are more nimble. And I really believe there's a change. It has to be a culture, cultural change at the Pentagon because for the past several decades, they're just, you know, fat and sassy and do whatever they want. And now President Trump, along with a new mindset that Secretary Hegseth is leading, is saying that we have to be more nimble, we have to be quicker, we have to be cheaper, we have to get projects done on time. In this timeline that you say they're going to be built, but this is really about the new technology that is going to be built in drones, ships and new fighter jets.

Dr. Gina

Right. But even pricing of new technology can be reviewed for its, for its budgetary consciousness. Yeah, yeah.

Congressman Marlon Stutzman

And I do, I do think that they are taking all that into account. But those numbers are big. We have to find offsets and we can find them a lot. It's going to take a lot of work and our non defense programs that need to be cut.

David Brody

All right, a popular left wing streamer spark new controversy after a speech to College Democrats. And by the way, it's not just what he said, it's also what he wore. This guy. Political commentator Hassan Piker addressed the College Democrats of America convention in Washington, D.C. where he criticized moderate Democrats for working what he called a fascist government. Thing is, though, Piker also drew attention for wearing a suit that critics said resembled the style of the Chinese Communist leader Chairman Mao. Take a look at this and his wardrobe.

We are in the weirdest time where I don't know about this whole right and left chasm anymore. I don't know. I feel like it's like them and us. I feel like it's like the real people out there, and then it's the. I don't know if you want to call it the elite or the bureaucracy or the establishment or what you want to call it, but I'm just not really falling for this whole left right thing anymore. Call me a fascist all day long if you want to, because you're pontificating up there. Whoever you are, Hasan, whoever, don't feel like you're really loyal to America. Maybe. I don't know. But the bottom line is I'm so tired of this sort of artificial line being drawn between the left and right when I'm just not believing it anymore. I believe it's them versus us, and us is we the people, and we're the real people who don't believe any of the malarkey that they're putting out. I'm just not falling for it anymore. Terrence.

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see for me how this all plays out within the Democrat Party. And I know we kind of disagree about this, but I think there is a revolution that's up afoot in the Democrat Party, and I don't know how it's going to shake out at this particular point. We obviously hear the Hasan pikers of the world, and they are the loudest voices in the room over at the Democrat Party. But there are some more centrist Democrats who are pushing back. And to be honest, I don't know who's ultimately going to win this debate or this argument, this ideological revolution within the party. By the way, David, I don't have a Chairman Mao outfit, but I do have a Chairman Mao wig that I will be wearing.

Welcome back, everyone. We're getting you ready for the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. It's set to ring in about five or six minutes. Here's a look at the pre market trading. As you can see, the dow s P500 and the NASDAQ, the major indices are in the red at the moment. We'll continue to monitor all of this and again, we'll take it to New York for the opening bell in just a minute. In the meantime, I want to talk about your sleep. Welcome back to American sunrise. I'm Dr. G. We thank you for joining us this morning. Hey, you guys, hop in our YouTube chat. We have so much fun in there talking about a lot of things. In fact, I'm usually responding when I come up for air from commercial because I love getting in there and talking to you guys, usually about food. I'm not gonna lie. But sometimes we talk about music. We talk a lot about faith. We give each other encouragement, Bible verses, criticism, and yeah, a lot of commentary. So hop in there in our YouTube chat and join us now. Time. It is time now to take the political pulse of America. As I said, the beat today, artificial intelligence continuing to expand. So does debate over the massive data centers needed to power it. The new Politico poll finds Americans growing more skeptical of these data centers being built near their homes. 41% of those surveys say they would oppose a Data center within three miles of their home, up from just 28% in January. Support has also dropped, falling from 37% to 24%, the shift especially sharp among Democrats, though Republican support has also softened. The issue is emerging as a new political battleground as both parties weigh the economic benefits of these concerns over energy use, water consumption and local impacts. Let's talk more about this with David Burden and Terrence Bates. You know, Terrence, we're hearing about California limiting these. That's really interesting because of all places, but it's gonna there's an interesting rewiring taking place also among sort of your traditional political tribes, if you will, because you've got the whole maha sort of branch, and I don't even wanna call it that anymore because that's been politicized. So I'm just gonna say the whole health, you know, the Ginas of the world who are very, very intent on protecting our water, our food, all of us from big hospital, big pharma, big doctor lobbies, right. They're sort of joining up sort of with some environmental thoughts, like this one, if you will. And it's sort of blurring the traditional lines of what we knew as politics, with Democrats taking up the environmentalist role, the granola liberal you think of, right? And the sort of always pro business right side of politics.

Terrence Bates

No, I absolutely hear you. And from a grassroots perspective, for many people, it comes down to what's in it for me or how does this impact me. And it's a strain on the infrastructure. People don't want these sorts of things close to their home because they realize how much energy these AI centers typically pull and the kind of strain it is on the grid in those communities and the overall infrastructure. And then of course, as you said, kind of from a high health perspective, there's always a concern about, okay, so what impact is it having on the groundwater in my particular area? What impact is it having on the soil? What's seeping into our supply that's going to ultimately make us sick? Are we going to show up with cancer and these sorts of sicknesses in 30 years as a result of what's happening at these AI centers? I think there are real concerns and that's why people are pushing back. It's an issue even right here in my own communities. There's been a lot of. Of town hall meetings because there was a proposed AI center that was supposed to be built in the area. And people are pushing back just because they're concerned. And that's not even including the conversation about AI in general. It's just the strain that these sorts of centers, David, would cause for the local grid and the infrastructure. And then of course, the health issues as well, because we don't really know.

David Brody

No, it's really good points. There's also concerns about your property value declining potentially with these AI centers in there, actually. And also the mood of the neighborhood kind of being ruined by one of these. And there's all of that. On the flip side, there's the kind of the, and I'll just say it, the Chamber of Commerce mode, if you will, which is that this is going to strengthen business communities and it's going to be good for the economy. And why am I putting my Chamber of Commerce voice on? I don't know why, but the point is that this is really how I talk, actually. No, I don't. So the point is that there's. There's two different viewpoints here. And I'm going to be honest with you. And I'm not trying to waffle because, you know, I don't like to. I like waffles, but I don't like to waffle much on this show. And I will just simply say that the jury's still out. The truth of the matter is we don't know we really don't know. And I think until we get a better sizable quantity of data about this and the lasting effects, then I think I'll be able to make a better decision. I can make a decision on paper right now. I would say I'm leaning against them. But having said that, I want to wait and kind of see where the data goes. Not the data that someone spoon feeding me, the data that I'm actually researching

Dr. Gina

for myself, but also, what do you do then? Because AI is continuing to grow. We all use it more every single day, even if we don't realize it. We're using it because it's being used in other things that we use, whether it's our bank teller or our children's schools hiring AI using AI, those sorts of things. This reminds me very much of the 5G fight. Do you guys remember the 5G fight? Yes, I remember covering this. And I also remember I went to look at a house, this is when I lived in California. And there was this huge, like big antenna thing going up there for 5G. And I remember not buying that house because I didn't like that that thing was there. And I had a guy come out with machines and measured all. And this is when you were talking about 5G, then you sounded like a crazy person, like you were a conspiracy theorist, which I've really sort of adopted that as my middle name at this point, but. And now. So then we all heard about 5G. We did nothing. And guess what? I read a statistic last night. Because of 5G, our cancer rates are up 600% just since 5G. You sleep with a cell phone in your room. That number is multiplied. So we really did nothing? We did nothing. And I'll tell you why. I know a lobbyist who actually went in. He told me this story himself. He met with Joe Biden. This is right after his son died of the cancer that, guess what was right here? Cell phone. Joe Biden said, I promise you, if I'm president, I will do something about this. And, oh, by the way, a lot of cell phone money went into. A lot of 5G money went into that presidential campaign. And guess what? Joe Biden wouldn't meet with the guy after he was president. I mean, these are the kinds of stories we hear over and over again. It killed his own son and he didn't want to talk about it. Who's gonna talk about this, David? Because the big money people are not gonna be the ones doing the talking.

David Brody

No doubt about that. All right, well, we gotta move on. But it doesn't surprise me that you, as Dr. G, cares about 5G.

Dr. Gina

So we have to change gears. Race to succeed the late Senator Lindsey Graham heating up. President Trump thrown his support behind Darlene Graham, who, of course is Lindsey Graham's sister. She says she's in for the long haul. She's running. However, several high profile Republicans moving forward with campaigns of their own saying you don't inherit a Senate seat. This includes Congressman Russell Fry, Ralph Norman, along with businessman Mark Lynch. Mark Lynch. Mark, I can't talk anymore. So, Mark, hopefully you can and tell us what you have to say about this because, yeah, there is, there is some pushback here.

Mark Lynch

Yes, thank you all for having me on again today. You know, South Carolina is upset that after we were told Darlene would just be the interim US Senator, that now she's receiving Trump's endorsement and a lot of people are talking about nepotism. Why is she doing this? She's not qualified. And the other big thing is this is too fast. It's not fair for her as she hasn't even had time to have a moment to grieve about the loss of her brother in a tragic death that happened suddenly like that. So. But the biggest thing, though, in our state laws that changed several weeks ago, you have to have voted in two out of three primaries to be eligible to run as a candidate. And she doesn't meet those requirements. So I think that's the end of the discussion.

Terrence Bates

Do you think she will be disqualified even though she's incumbent? Sorry, David, but do you think she will be disqualified even though she is the incumbent at the moment?

Mark Lynch

Technically, you know, I don't know. We're going to honor the rules of the GOP party in our state. That's the question. Everybody's watching.

David Brody

Well, who's going to do something about it? I mean, like, how would that work? How would that work?

Mark Lynch

Well, we're bringing it out, everybody's talking about it and it's all over Twitter and everywhere. Everybody's concerned. Are we gonna, are we gonna write the rules over again to get what we want? And, you know, are we gonna follow the rules? So that's what we're all waiting to hear.

Yeah, well, it's up to the state election committee here in South Carolina to meet with the 46 counties and districts and decide what they're doing.

Dr. Gina

Interesting. Mark, do we even know what her politics are? I mean, do we just assume she's a walking clone of Lindsey Graham, who, by the way, was all over the map on his politics? I mean, there were some times where I loved him. There were some times where I hated his politics. Do we even know what her politics are? Do South Carolinians know?

Mark Lynch

Well, you know, a lot of people are concerned about that and, you know, we've got to talk about the truth and everybody's hoping we're not going to get Lindsey 2.0, but there's more information coming out in her career where she's all about DEI and all the horrible policies that we're all against that true Republicans are not going to put up with. So more and more of that's coming out.

David Brody

Well, you know, it makes you wonder if. And I'm just going to say it, I mean, why not? If Trump jumped the gun here a little bit by doing this. I'm curious to get your take on that, because where's the vetting process in this? This seemed to happen very quickly. And I'm assuming Trump is doing this, I don't want to say on emotion because, you know, Trump's not that type of guy necessarily, but he is loyal. And when it comes to Lindsey Graham and his sister, and they've got a very compelling story, by the way, of him, obviously, Lindsey Graham adopting his sister. Talk to us about the Trump factor here in terms of whether or not this was rushed.

Mark Lynch

Well, I believe it absolutely was. And I've heard that our governor was very upset because Trump was only going to appoint her for the interim, and now he's endorsed her and she's decided to run and it's happening real fast. And, you know, South Carolinians have a. We have a mind of our own. And Trump might endorse her or he did, but we get to decide who we vote for. You know. Yeah, I'm endorsed by we, the people of South Carolina. They're looking for somebody that's not a career politician that has the qualifications to run and be a U.S. senator.

Dr. Gina

Yeah, I love President Trump, but goodness, God forbid anything happens to him. Melania shouldn't be president. CEOs shouldn't just hand over presidents, senators. This just this. It hits different, doesn't it, Mark? Anyway, keep his posted.

Mark Lynch

Yeah, it feels like another election integrity issue. We need to let the people decide without all the government influence.

Dr. Gina

Yeah, it'll be interesting to watch because they do have a compelling story. No one's going to deny that. President Trump is just so loyal. Sometimes I feel like it's out in front of his skis with some of that. Mark Lynch. Like I said, please keep us posted because this is going to be very interesting to watch and could impact the midterm.

Yeah, you know, we finished a strong second place. Nobody's ever achieved what we achieved against Lindsey when he was the incumbent.

It's a cool graphic there. Welcome back to American Sunrise. All right, time now for a moment of faith in Focus. Today. This week marks Tisha Biav in the Hebrew calendar. Look, I grew up Jewish, and I can't even pronounce some of these. Okay? I was bar mitzvahed and I did a little bit of Hebrew and that's about it. Sue me. The name, by the way, simply means the ninth of Av, the fifth month of the biblical calendar. I'm really butchering this intro. Beginning at sunset tonight, Jewish people throughout the world will observe a solemn fast commemorating the destruction of the Jerusalem temple. It is traditionally considered the saddest day in the Jewish calendar. All right, so here to help us analyze this and pronounce everything correctly is Jim Mosley, the author of The Duke of D.C. the American dream. He's got a lot of books. So you have about seven minutes. Discovering Jesus disciples, who they were, what they believed, and what they achieved. Jim also co wrote a book with Dr. G the days of Creation by Heart, teaching children how God made the world around here. Of course, he is the Bible history guy and joins us now. Jim, tell us more and go ahead, pronounce it correctly because I'm sure I butchered the holiday. Go ahead.

Simple Tisha Bov and it begins in the 6th century BC. That's when Judas King Zedekiah rebelled against Babylon. So the Babylonians besieged Jerusalem and they breached the city walls on June 24, 586 BC. So Jerusalem felt, but the temple was still standing. Now second kings says that on 7 of August 1st, the captain of the guard of Babylon burned the house of the Lord. But Jeremiah says It was on the 10th of AV that they did that. Now the Babylonian Talmud explains his apparent, you know, contradiction. So here's what happened. The Babylonians entered Jerusalem on the 7th of Av, desecrated the Temple on the 7th and 8th, set it on fire on the evening of the 9th, and the Temple continued burning all through the 10th. A famous rabbi named Yohanan said, had I been alive back then, I would have established the fast day on the 10th of October, because that's when the sanctuary mostly burned. Now here's the curious thing. More than six centuries later, the tragedy happened again. In AD 66, the Jews rebelled against Rome. The Romans surrounded Jerusalem in AD 70, and after a siege of five months, they broke through walls. Jewish historian Josephus, who witnessed this, wrote that the second temple was also burned on the 10th of AV in AD 70. So the first temple and the second temple were both destroyed on the same day of the year, over 76 centuries apart. So Tisha Ba, the 9th of AV is this day of fasting, starting tonight, that gathers all this history into one solemn day of mourning. But if we ask the strictly historical question, on what day were both temples burned? Actually, it was on the 10th of Av, not the 9th. So Rabbi Yohanan was right.

So are we supposed to read anything into the fact that historically both were burned on the 10th? I mean, is there any conclusion we should come to that or. No, that just happens to be happenstance.

Well, I know that my Jewish friends ascribe a lot of importance to it. A lot of there's a deep irony, but I'm not sure that anybody really derives anything scriptural or theological from it. It's just amazingly remarkable.

David Brody

Yeah, these Jewish holidays, I tell you what, it's amazing. They have so many holidays, by the way, the Jews have so many holidays, I would say. Why is that? I'M assuming because they have a long history and a long history with Christ, God.

Well, mainly why it is is because most of their holidays are tied to agricultural cycles, which are very important. So, for example, when you went, when. When somebody experienced a famine, they didn't know it was a famine until the second harvest of the year failed.
