Daily Show Host
Welcome to the Daily Show.
Desi Lydic
I'm Desi Lydic. We've got so much to talk about tonight. Iran has a new secret weapon. Trump finds a way to make Canadians angry. And Olive Garden is now the world's most secure place to eat. Sorry. Rainforest Cafe at Rikers. So let's get into the headline. This weekend was the big World cup final, and I'd like to congratulate Spain, or Espana, as we called it during my semester overseas. It marks the end of a wonderful month of soccer co hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. And in a beautiful moment, in a moment of unity, Trump watched the game alongside the leader of Canada, ushering in a new era of friendship that will last and last and last.
Daily Show Host
Breaking news.
Megan Rapinoe
The Trump administration says it is slapping an additional 50% tariff on certain Canadian goods.
Daily Show Host
Oh, mother.
Desi Lydic
Fighting again with Canada. I thought we were going to work this out. Okay, now what are we taxing ourselves to punish Canada for?
Iran Expert
Everything from Canadian wood and paper and furniture to things like hockey sticks and dairy products.
Desi Lydic
No hockey sticks. What's my husband gonna keep jammed in the corner of the garage for the past 15 years? Now, obviously, it's very frustrating to be back in this trade war again, but if you're worried that this is another case of Trump abusing his power, relax. These tariffs are legal under the Smoot Hawley act, which has been around since 1930, when it helped prolong and worsen the Great Depression. So cheer.
Daily Show Host
But where?
Desi Lydic
Where is this sudden anger with Canada coming from? What's this all about? President Trump is blasting Canada for, quote, willful negligence in its forest management, calling the pollution an unhealthy invasion. Trump went on to threaten Canada with more tariffs Due to the wildfire smoke.
Donald Trump
You gotta stop these fires from coming in and, you know, poisoning our air.
Desi Lydic
Are you sure you want America to set a precedent for paying for pollution? I feel like your pals at Pesticide Microplastic Death Diarrhea Lettuce Inc. Might have other ideas. I will say the one interesting thing about the wildfires was seeing Trump almost come to a realization.
Donald Trump
We gotta stop the fires up there. I've never remembered this happening over the last four or five years. You saw it starting to take place.
Interview Guest
Go on.
Desi Lydic
You're getting warmer.
Megan Rapinoe
Warmer.
Desi Lydic
Catastrophically warmer. I love how he's discovering climate change while standing next to his idling jet. Something is causing this, and we have got to get to the bottom of it. Keep the engine running, guys. All of them. I haven't decided which plane I'm taking, but let's move on from Trump's war on Canada to his war on personally losing elections. Look, I know a lot of liberals out there think election fraud isn't a problem, but I assure you, it's just as much a threat to the United States as Canada. And that's why last week, Trump gave a primetime address from the White House to offer his solution.
Donald Trump
To fix our elections, Congress must pass the Save America Act. This landmark bill requires that all voters must show photo voter id. How simple is that? Could I have your photo, please? Photo voter id.
Desi Lydic
Even he sounds exhausted by his own election bullshit. Hey. Hey. Once you turn 80, it is harder to maintain an insurrection. Happens to a lot of guys. Now, if you didn't watch this speech. Trump unveiled a devastating set of documents that conclusively prove the 2020 election was structured in a deep state conspiracy. I'm just with you. He released a bunch of documents that were old news and didn't prove jack shit. And at one point, he even started to glitch.
Donald Trump
In light of the brand new and irrefutable information I have revealed tonight, my administration is in the process of notifying the states.
Desi Lydic
That's what I'm always saying. You got to trust the prosoff.
Daily Show Host
Trust it.
Desi Lydic
Now, normally, after Trump gives a speech, all his fans at Fox News amplify his message and repeat his lies verbatim. There's just one problem. Trump's talking about election fraud. Remember how this went the last time?
Commentator
Fox agreeing to pay Dominion More than $787 million over the network's unsupported claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged.
Desi Lydic
Fox does not want to pay another $787 million. They need that Money for settling sexual harassment lawsuits. Sean Hannity, you're live after Trump's speech. Let's see you try to cover this story without tripping over $787 million.
Sean Hannity
President Donald J. Trump from the East Room at the White House. He had a lot to say tonight. Now, the president, if you go to whitehouse.gov has and will is now releasing what he believes is all the corroboration that you would ever need. What is pretty remarkable, what he says are in these documents. I'm sure that anybody that cares about truth will want to do a deep dive into all of this.
Desi Lydic
Well, what he said was. So it was a little. You know what, let's move on to a bigger story. Why does Mamdani want to convert Jimothy the raccoon to Islam? So now MAGA Republicans are in a tough spot. If Trump's speech didn't move the needle, they need to find another way to rally support for it. They need to come with irrefutable evidence that is necessary. They need to take this seriously. 24 states already require photo ID to be presented prior to voting. Heck, you even need to present a Voto ID to utilize the Olive Garden's Never Ending Pasta Pass. Okay. Or we could compare our election system to Olive Garden. Sure, let's try that. And by the way, for those of you who don't know, the Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass is a real thing. And of course you have to show a photo ID to use it. In fact, my first fake ID was actually a Never Ending Pasta Pass. I'll never forget freshman year when I got marinara poisoning. Had to get my stomach pumped. Before you ask, yes, I checked the box to be a pasta donor. That way, God forbid, if something happens to me, a guy who needs a new kidney gets my pasta. But yeah, Virginia Fox is saying Olive Garden has tighter security than the voting booth. And that's such a ridiculous analogy that everyone on the right is using it.
Commentator
So you need an ID to get all. You can eat pasta at Olive Garden. You want to go vote?
Sean Hannity
For God's sake, you can't go get pasta at Olive Garden without a picture id.
State Farm Announcer
So you need one for Olive Garden,
Marie Major
but not for a steak in our republic.
State Farm Announcer
Right?
Desi Lydic
You have to show up with a photo ID to prove it's actually you
Marie Major
to eat their pasta.
Desi Lydic
My goodness, the fact that eating pasta requires an actual ID before voting in
State Farm Announcer
this country is pretty ridiculous.
Desi Lydic
Shout out to Olive Garden. Shout out to Olive Garden. You're not even talking about election fraud anymore. You're just ordering lunch. Here's the thing. Olive Garden and elections are completely different things. Voting is a sacred right that can't be restricted just because Donald Trump wants photo id. But Olive Garden needs a photo ID for their pasta pass because their mail in pasta was a total mess. Not falling for that again. But beyond that, your analogy is taking over your argument. You want people to be thinking about election fraud, not the restaurant where your parents tell you that they're getting a divorce. When you're here, you're family. But when we get home, you have to choose. Please, please just stop making this about Olive Garden.
Commentator
Maybe we just need to change the name of the bill to the Olive Garden Law.
Desi Lydic
You know what it Fine, let's pass the Olive Garden law followed by the Red Lobster War on Greenland act and the Chili's Baby Back abortion so that that is the current state of Trump's war on voting rights. In the span of a week, he went from an urgent primetime address to watching his base obsess over a Tuscan themed casual dining chain. It didn't work out for him this time, but the next one might. Because at the end of the day his lies are like spaghetti. Throw it at the wall and hope it sticks. And I think I speak. And I think I speak for all of us when I say shout out to Olive Garden. When we come back, we'll find out the real reason we're going to war with Iran.
Daily Show Host
So don't worry about it.

Chronic migraine is 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more. Botox Onobotulinum Toxin A prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine before they start. It's not for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month. It prevents on average eight to nine headache days a month versus six to seven for placebo.
Botox Announcer
Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection, causing serious symptoms. Alert your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems or muscle weakness can be signs of a life threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welt, asthma symptoms and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions including als, Lou Gehrig's disease, Myasthenia gravis or Lambert Eaton syndrome, and medications including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects.

Welcome back on the Daily Show.
Desi Lydic
As Trump reignites his war with Iran, many Americans are wondering why Josh Johnson might have found out the answer by now.
Interviewer
It's clear that the Trump administration lied to get us into a war with Iran.
Desi Lydic
Take the oil.
Donald Trump
You can call it what you want, but I call it regime change. We never said regime change.
Interviewer
But you just said, you know what, Never mind. Typical US Government imperialist lies. So I sat down with Marie Major, an expert in the the field of energy, to find out why we're really at war.
Marie Major
The Trump administration has been lying to the people. They have not been transparent.
Interviewer
I know exactly what you're talking about because Trump's contradicting himself so much.
Marie Major
Yes, exactly. The real reason that we are at war with Iran is because of the Stargate.
Interviewer
Oh, I was going to say oil.
Marie Major
Yes, there's the oil. But what I know is Iran sits on a Stargate.
Interviewer
Stargate, like the Kurt Russell movie? Yeah, that's right, a Stargate. In case you don't remember the 90s Kurt Russell movie with 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, a Stargate is an underground portal across the universe. And Marie, a public speaker and author, says that this powerful energy is what drew Trump into starting a war in Iran, leading to one obvious question. How the hell did Iran get a stargate?
Marie Major
What happened 12,000 years ago when Atlantis fell?
Interviewer
Wait, what does Atlantis have to do with Stargate?
Marie Major
Iran's Stargate 10. It closed because of the civilization of Atlantis that a lot of souls now on planet Earth have a thread from that timeline. So we are now returning back on the spiral, but from a higher state of consciousness.
Interviewer
I mean, this is actually a clearer perspective on why the war in Iran is happening than we've been getting from the Trump administration. Yeah, so now we have to open up the Stargate and the Strait of Hormuz, right?
Marie Major
Yeah.
Interviewer
It's gonna take forever. And Marie isn't the only expert who believes this theory.
Desi Lydic
Iran is not falling apart. It's actually waking up. Beneath Iran is Stargate 10. It ain't oil, it ain't to fight for Israel. It is for the Stargate that they got comment Stargate. And I will send you some more new Earth secrets.
Interviewer
But some Iran experts have more out there theories for the war.
Iran Expert
The President made a series of decisions that I think are probably mistakes about the best way of dealing with Iran's nuclear program, missile program, support for terrorist proxies and human rights related issues. That is the reason why we are in a conflict with Iran today.
Interviewer
Do you think the Trump administration has reasons for war that they're not sharing?
Iran Expert
I mean, if you're talking about the
Interviewer
nuclear program, I am talking about an energy source, perhaps under Iran.
Iran Expert
I think the word you're reaching for is oil. And are you reaching back to our historic animosity or.
Interviewer
I'm talking about Stargate, man.
Iran Expert
Okay, what about Stargate?
Interviewer
You're an expert and you know about Iran. You gotta know about the Stargate.
Iran Expert
Well, I've seen the movie.
Sean Hannity
If we're talking about the movie.
Interviewer
No, underneath Iran is the Stargate. It's this, this like millennia old energy field. And the war is really about that, right?
Iran Expert
No.
Interviewer
Nephew, a key negotiator for the jcpoa, AKA Obama's Iran deal, refuses to take any responsibility for the current state of Iran. You worked on the jcpoa, right? In hindsight, do you think that it was a little bit shortsighted to not include the Stargate in some of that language?
Iran Expert
I can think of issues with the jcpoa, but Stargate's not at the top of my list.
Interviewer
I just want to get to the bottom of this. I mean, this goes back to Atlantis, man. Atlantis.
Iran Expert
So are you saying that Trump launched the war to stop the Stargate from opening or to open the Stargate? Because I'm a little confused why there's a war in Iran over a Stargate.
Interviewer
What I'm doing is asking the expert, but Marie says this war is much bigger than so called experts like nephew can imagine.
Marie Major
This is not just a physical war in Iran, it's a galactic war. There's aliens that are on many different planets battling against one another.
Interviewer
Okay?
Marie Major
Humans and galactic beings. We each come from an oversoul, which is like a jellyfish.
Interviewer
Jellyfish.
Marie Major
You share about jellyfish with other star beings in the universe.
Interviewer
Hey, alien soul jellyfish might sound a little out there, but the more I talked to Richard, the more I saw that the tails are all there.
Iran Expert
Now that the Iranians have closed the strait on Hormuz once, they could certainly do so again. So we've got a long term problem now. There are, you know, barnacle infestations and jellyfish that are starting to attach themselves to the ships.
Interviewer
Jellyfish? You heard them say jellyfish, right?
Commentator
You got it.
Interviewer
Jellyfish. You might as well admit the whole thing now. Okay, I'm waiting on you.
Iran Expert
Well, I told you there are jellyfish and that jellyfish have been around the ships that are stuck in the Strait of Hormuz. I'm not really sure.
Interviewer
How many pallets of cash did you send directly into the Stargate? And do you know which alien race has it now? Because don't act like you don't know about the aliens.
Iran Expert
I understand the reason why you are so interested in the idea of Stargate and aliens and these sorts of things to explain this. Right. It would be a lot more comforting to believe that all this isn't just simply because we elected a president who doesn't plan ahead and then makes decisions.
Interviewer
But you know about the aliens and conspiracy theorists like Nephew have it all wrong, says Marie. Trump and his administration are fully in control.
Marie Major
A lot of people in the spiritual community like to say that it's the reptilian civilization brainwashing the government. But I disagree with that because, like,
Interviewer
the reptilian civilization isn't even like, real.
Marie Major
Well, it is real, but there's good and bad in that civilization. And this is where a lot of people get it wrong.
Interviewer
You can't just scapegoat the reptilian civilization. Yeah, you know, like hashtag notall Reptilians.
Marie Major
That's a good hashtag.
Interviewer
Whatever the cause of the war, one truth is undeniable. Stargates are out there. You just gotta believe. Did you know Sam's Club isn't a store? It's actually a club with cool finds and like a whole community.
Iran Expert
It's a club.
State Farm Announcer
Of course, Jason.
Desi Lydic
It's in the name. Sam's Club.
Interviewer
Oh, yeah.
Desi Lydic
Come join us.
Interviewer
Sam's Club.
Ryan Reynolds
Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for Mint Mobile. Now, I was looking for fun ways to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited Premium Wireless for $15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made $15 bills, but it turns out that's very illegal. So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give it a try@mintmobile.com switch upfront payment
State Farm Announcer
of $45 for three months, $90 for six months or $180 for a 12 month plan required $15 per month equivalent taxes and fees. Extra initial plan term only greater than 50 gigabytes. Me slow when network is busy. See terms.
Daily Show Host
Welcome back to the Daily Show.
Desi Lydic
My guest tonight is a soc activist and entrepreneur who's launching a new solo podcast called why Are youe Like this? Please welcome Megan Rapinoe. Yeah, feel the love, baby.
Megan Rapinoe
Feel the love. Oh, I'm like more.
Desi Lydic
Yeah, keep it coming. You deserve it. We're so happy that you're here. You are a soccer legend. Two time World cup champion, Olympic gold medalist, countless individual honors. The first soccer player to ever receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I gotta tell you something, as. As someone whose report card in grade school said she needs to work on skipping, I can't relate to this level of achievement. It's so impressive. So we, The US Just hosted the World Cup. What do you think is harder? Getting Americans to care about soccer or getting Americans to care about women?
Megan Rapinoe
We seem super into the World Cup. Yeah, we nailed that.
Desi Lydic
When's the rest gonna fall out?
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, probably soccer. Yeah.
Iran Expert
Yeah.
Desi Lydic
Okay, so far.
Megan Rapinoe
So far it feels like that's changing, but, you know, I sure slowly hope so. Yeah, it is.
Desi Lydic
What was your take on this whole red card drama that happened? You've definitely gone head to head with Trump before. How do you think that affected the men's team?
Megan Rapinoe
Certainly not. Well, yeah.
Daily Show Host
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Didn't give them the boost. Maybe that they were thinking it would or that Trump was hoping that it would. I don't know. It seemed like it kind of like threw them off their game. Whether it was like, you know, meant to be a red card or not, I don't know. I'm not a ref and I don't even know the rules. I feel like people are always. So many people are asking me, they're like, well, what about this? And what about this? I'm like, guys, I don't know.
Desi Lydic
Not my job.
Megan Rapinoe
I don't. Not my job. I don't know. But it didn't go well. They had, like, such a good vibe. I feel like they had, like, the underdog kind of vibe going. And then, you know, who got involved, and everyone was like, nope, yes. No, we don't like it. And then obviously Belgium was like, no, we absolutely can't lose to this team now.
Daily Show Host
Right.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Desi Lydic
And the men's team maybe hasn't gone, you know, faced that kind of difficult team. The women's team is used to this all the time.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Desi Lydic
Pushback from.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. We're like, bring it. Yeah. Bring it on. We can handle that.
Daily Show Host
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
They have enough.
Daily Show Host
Yeah. Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
They're not getting asked about, like, abortion bans in their press conference. So where. This is, like, old hat to us.
Desi Lydic
Yeah. You're used to it at this point.
Megan Rapinoe
We're good. Yeah.
Desi Lydic
One thing that I appreciate about you so much is that you have acknowledged that you have a platform and you have a purpose and you understand your influence and you don't want to squander it. You've been the face of advocating for so many issues like equal pay as a woman. Thank you.
Megan Rapinoe
You're welcome.
Daily Show Host
Thank you for that.
Desi Lydic
LGBTQ rights. You've become a huge advocate. Was there a moment in your life or in your career when you decided, this is my purpose and I can actually make a difference here?
Megan Rapinoe
I mean, I think being gay is just part of it. I'm like, okay, something's up here. I was like, hold on. I have a brother who was formerly incarcerated, so I feel like from a young age, I had started to get an education on what our prison system was like and what it does and doesn't do for people. And then I think going into sports and being in women's sports was like, something's not adding up here. So a couple different convergences in my life, but, yeah, I think definitely being a woman and being gay, I'm like, well, I mean, there you go. I gotta get in there.
Desi Lydic
Yes. And you have.
Megan Rapinoe
I gotta get in there.
Desi Lydic
And you have.
Daily Show Host
Good job.
Desi Lydic
You wrote a piece in Marie Claire about losing a brand deal. Tell us, walk us through exactly what happened, because this was shocking to me.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. I mean, honestly, I feel for the people who work at the company because, like, the humans didn't flag it. And then AI just came over the top and was like, no. And they were already like, we're working with this person, and we have. I think I was, like, flagged because of my support. I've had a long time support of trans people, obviously, and of all sorts of people. I mean, all of us, really. I'd love everyone to have their rights. That's really the goal, certainly. But, yeah, it was sort of at the last minute, I don't know. They ran it through the AI, as they call it, and they were like, not her.
Sean Hannity
Mm.
Megan Rapinoe
Mm.
Desi Lydic
This is. She had a brand deal, and the AI took over and flagged Megan for. Yeah, for being an ally of the trans community.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Desi Lydic
Yeah. How up is that?
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. I'm like, guys. What?
Desi Lydic
Yeah. So if there's anyone else out there that's interested in someone who's a real advocate. Any brands out there that want to do good business. Yeah. What do you think is riskier, advocating for trans women in sports or setting up an entire generation of boys to have a gambling addiction?
Daily Show Host
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Confidence is dangerous when a girl gets it. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
Desi Lydic
I don't see AI flagging that.
Megan Rapinoe
Certainly not.
Desi Lydic
You retired in 2023. How has that been for you? I mean, you are someone who is so Such a recognizable elite athlete. How is it going on this journey now, finding who you are and what fills you with joy outside of the
Megan Rapinoe
game, you know, it's been like, the craziest experience. I feel like it's great. I was excited. I was ready. I never want to play again, and I know that I can't. And it's also just, like, so weird. Do we have any, like, retirees in the building? A couple, yeah. It's just strange. Like, all of a sudden, one day you're doing this thing you love. I've been doing it for decades and really my whole life. And then the next day, it's like, you can do anything. It's kind of like a gay wedding. People are like, you can have anything you want. And it's like, that's a lot. Maybe we'll just do the same thing,
Desi Lydic
you know, start with one thing.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, let's not reinvent the wheel. But it's been fun, like, just stepping away and having a lot more time and space and figuring out what I want to do next and. Yeah, going to more family stuff or going on vacations or doing different things. It's nice to be on the fan side of things. Yeah. Not in the game.
Desi Lydic
Well, and now you're immediately jumping right back into work because you've got this new podcast out. Why Are youe Like this? Yeah, as because of the title, I'm gonna flip the question on you and ask you, megan, why are you like this?
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, I blame my mom and dad, probably Jim and Denise. They're the reasons why I'm like this. I don't know. I feel like I got that question all the time, implicitly or explicitly. Sometimes just a side eye of like, ooh, what is she doing over there? I feel like I'm like this probably because I'm just different already and curious about what the world looks like when it's sort of made for all of us. So I feel like that's kind of how I approach things. And I'm really looking forward to talking with people who are, you know, taking the left and everybody is going right or doing things differently or could be really successful in a more kind of status quo pathway, but have, like, just chosen to do something different. I think those probably people I'm most interested in and just, like, why people are the way that they are. I think it'll be fun to talk to all kinds of different people about that.
Desi Lydic
Who's your dream guest?
Megan Rapinoe
Well, I've been on a look to cameras, door. Mom. Donnie.
Desi Lydic
Hey, girl, you here?
Daily Show Host
I'm in New York. You're doing a great job.
Desi Lydic
Make it happen.
Megan Rapinoe
We've got the soccer connection. I would love to do him. I feel like he's doing stuff very differently.
ZocDoc User
Yes.
Megan Rapinoe
Jalen Brunson over here in New York.
Desi Lydic
That would be interesting. Nick in there.
Daily Show Host
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Asia Williams Wilson would be awesome. Michelle Obama would be great.
Desi Lydic
Yeah, yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Excellent list. You can come on the pod anytime you want.
Daily Show Host
Okay.
Desi Lydic
Now you mention me.
Daily Show Host
Sure, sure.
Megan Rapinoe
Michelle Obama.
Desi Lydic
Okay.
Daily Show Host
Yes.
Desi Lydic
I loved, I happened to read your memoir and I love that you acknowledged soccer moms and kind of acknowledged that. It sounds like a bit of a derogatory term and people make fun of soccer moms making orange slices and holding their Stanley cups, but you really gave so much credit to your mom for taking on like pretty much a full time job to drive you and your sister around to play soccer.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, yeah. Oh my gosh. I mean, my mom and my dad, I feel like soccer parents in general, it's like you just like, you think you're signing your kids up for soccer and it's really just like a chauffeur job and like the orange slice job and you're like supporting them through this and you're driving them everywhere. It's a lot of time. We had a lot of like early weekend drives where my mom, you know, she works late too. She was a waitress, so she didn't get off work till like midnight and we're up at 4am driving and both her and my dad tag teaming. So.
Desi Lydic
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Shout out to all the soccer parents.
Daily Show Host
Shout out to all the parents out there.
Sean Hannity
Are you.
Desi Lydic
I have to make a confession. I am a soccer mom.
Megan Rapinoe
You're a soccer mom.
Desi Lydic
My son just started playing soccer and I hope it's okay, but he wrote a few questions to ask you. Do you mind answering his questions?
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Interviewer
Okay.
Desi Lydic
He's 10. He said. How old were you when you started playing?
Megan Rapinoe
I was, oh, gosh, probably like five. I'm a twin and we have an older brother, Brian, so he's five years older than us. So I think we were both just kind of like following him around. But I think five was my first team.
Desi Lydic
Okay, you were five when you started. And he'd like to know when you were a kid, how much time did you spend practicing? Answer this carefully.
Daily Show Host
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Honestly, not a lot. Oh, come on.
Daily Show Host
I know.
Megan Rapinoe
Like, not. Yeah, I mean, I played a lot. Again, having a twin sister, Rach. Like we played all the time, but actual practice, like not that much. We played all kinds of sports and I don't know, probably like twice a week or something.
Desi Lydic
Did that make you want to practice more because your parents kind of were just letting you enjoy the fun of it and.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, I think so. And it made me really excited for the games. I feel like those were like, the most important. I mean, we played a lot of games definitely, and played other sports and yeah, they were always like, listen, we're into doing this, like, if you guys want to do it, but we're not going to be driving this train. We're going to drive this van, but not this train. So just let us know.
Desi Lydic
Okay. Note to self, make it fun. I hadn't thought about that.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Desi Lydic
This is his final question. What's the main difference between U.S. men's soccer and U.S. women's soccer, other than the really good at it part? He wrote it.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, he wrote it.
Desi Lydic

Since I grew up in New York, I grew to love Italian food. So I always wanted to hate the Olive Garden restaurant chain. After growing up eating authentic lasagna and chicken parmesan, how the heck could you possibly settle for what's basically Italian fast food? It felt fake, but then I tried those never ending breadsticks. Mamma mia.

Notable closing moment:
Satirical, witty, and irreverent, this episode blends biting political/philosophical critique with pop culture and heartwarming moments, especially in the conversational, earnest exchange with Megan Rapinoe. The show lampoons the absurdity of politics-as-entertainment while also highlighting the value of real activism and purpose.
This episode spotlights the messiness and comic contradictions of current politics—from Trump’s farcical trade war and election “fixes” to the even more outlandish “Stargate theory” of Iran policy. The humor is pointed but inclusive, culminating in an interview with Megan Rapinoe that brings real-world principles of advocacy and self-discovery into focus. Whether mocking political absurdities or reflecting on the journey from elite sports to activism, the show delivers both laughs and substance.
